Rules applicable to all Big Fish awards:
One witness to weight required, and a good, side view photo required
Fish must be taken in North American waters
Only carp (cyprinus carpio) can be entered (common, mirror, leather, or koi)
Season runs from 09/01 to 08/31 each year. Submissions must arrive before 9/8.
The carp must be handled with respect, and released in good health
Fish must be caught in the mouth area (1 inch); snagging will not count
Biggest fish wins
Fish must be caught according to local laws & regulations
CAG staff reserves the right to make final rulings on any outcome
CAG Members Big Fish Award specific rules:
Angler must be a CAG member when the fish is captured
One national winner, plus one winner per region
Junior Big Fish Award specific rules:
Angler must be less than 18 years old when the fish is captured
If junior isn’t a CAG member, witness must be a CAG member
One national winner, plus one winner per region
Big Fish Award prizes:
Prizes will be handed out during the CAG Awards ceremony, after the CAG Plenary annual meeting (end of September, Chicago, during
the CCC ), or mailed to the winner after the meeting
CAG staff reserves the right to decide of the exact prizes, but winners will get at least:
- A nominative honorific plaque
- For juniors, a free one-year CAG membership
How to submit a Big Fish Award candidate:
To enter one of these awards (or make a friend of yours enter), you just have to fill the form below, and attach a good side-view
picture of the angler and his catch.
If you only have a paper picture, then fill the form with the rest of the information requested, and we’ll contact you and find
a way to scan the picture.
Please get started now and do report any big fish which was caught after the beginning of the CAG season.
