Howdy from Texas! I am Joe Carter. Mike Wheeler and I represent Texas for the Carp Anglers Group. I represent the North Texas area which holds the largest population of carp anglers in the state and Mike handles the rest of the state. Mike is based out of Austin, Tx which has one of the most well known carp lakes in North America, LADY BIRD LAKE(formally Town Lake).
LBL has had quite a storied past, including multiple 40 pound carp as well as a $250,000 prize for breaking the state record during a carp tournament. The very first carp hatchery in the United States was at Barton Springs which feeds into the main lake. As you can see, carp history on this lake goes all the way back into the 1800's. Lady Bird Lake is also the first lake in the United States to enact a length and bag limit for Common Carp to help protect this valuable resource.
We hold one the the Carp Anglers Group's premier events, The Austin Team Championship(ATC) every spring on LBL. This has accounted for many new personal best fish for anglers all across this country as well. The ATC is a team based tournament going on 10 years and a great social event to meet like minded anglers from across the world.
