  5. Fellow carp enthusiasts, This year St. Lawrence County (New York State) is celebrating the 14th annual Junior Carp tournament. This carp tournament has become the premiere event for advancing junior carp fishing in the country! We have seen many young boys and girls become competent carp anglers under the guidance of experienced fisherman/ women. This is a family event with many families returning every year until their children age out of the tournament. With this said, CAG is looking to expand tournament opportunities for boys and girls. We are looking to set up similar junior tournaments for young anglers in different areas of the country (central, west, mid-west, etc.) The hope is someday having a tournament were the winners from each tournament would have a chance to fish for an overall junior champion. CAG is looking for a state to host such a tournament and volunteers to help set up and run the program. CAG will offer assistance to anyone interested in setting up a junior tournament event. If interested you can reply to this post or call Steven Conger (youth tournament director) at (315) 393- 6637. Thank you.

  8. To all CAG members, The St Lawrence Jr Carp tournament is fast approching (08/20/2015 to 08/22/2015). Everything is coming together but we are still in need of some marshalls. If anyone can spare the time to volunteer it would be a great help to all the kids that are learning how to carp fish. Without the help of volunteers this tournament cannot operate. Also on 08/23/2015 there is a marshall's tournament that is always a great day (win a trophy for big fish and there is a little side bet!). If you can help please contact me at 1-315- 393- 6637 or through this post. Thanks to all. Steve.
  9. New Ohio State Chair

Craig, welcome as the new Ohio State chair.
  10. Hello from Dumfries, Va

Welcome to forum. I too was an avid bass angler fishing many tournaments (even some at pro level). Got tired of the attitude that alot of the new bass guys were having. My son and I statred fishing carp together (at his constant request) and we kept it simple, 9 foot spining rod, sinker and hook. We did not have alarms or any carp gear for that matter, but we rigged up 1 1/2 pvc pipe, cut the bottom on an angle and drove this in the ground, put the rod butt in the top, loosened the drag (no bait runner at that time) and fished like this for a couple of years (worked great). New gear came slow, often presents for x-mas, over the years it's amazing how your gear can build up. I still fish for many species of fish but carp fishing is great becuse I can enjoy it with my whole family. Keep fishing!

  13. My sons and I have been invovled in the Jr carp fishing tournament since the second year it was started. My son Matt who has fished the tornament has aged out and now is a marshall, (last year he was the Grand marshall and loved it). The chance to meet people from all over is quite a unique experience for the young fisherman involved. The one thing that sticks in my mind as a true benefit to this tournament is, to have the chance to watch/ help kids of all ages become better anglers. Kids who could hardly hold a fishing pole and needed assitance from the marshalls have over the years become experienced anglers (what elese can you ask for). CAG members started this tournament and I hope that if you can assist in anyway possible please try. This is a great experience for all involved. Thanks Steve.
