  1. To steer this back on topic...

using quality carp fishing tackle is not only fun but it blows away other types of fresh water fishing gear!

And there is nothing like owning great fishing gear and actually catching great fish on it!

    So enjoy your addiction.

And remind the wife that there are other hobbies and vices that could be much more expensive.... :icon_smoking:

    (btw, Tom really is cool/consistent)

  2. So many no-shows :o ... that's because next Sunday is a religious holiday for Colombians.

This holiday is also, out of courtesy, honored by others ( See other no-shows) :) .

Actually on St. Juan Valdez day, everyone can be Colombian  .

To celebrate, we will all dress in the same color, not eat till sundown, drink till we drop :party0012icon: , and hunt for duck eggs at dusk!!

I guess what I am saying is that you honor St. Juan Valdez day, like you would other religious holidays, and move the event to the following Sunday!!

This all sounds quite fair to me, then we could all fish together! ....That is unless you are, how do you say? SKEERED!!

  3. Actually the flea market is a great idea. If one wants to donate to cag that should be left up to the seller of the gear. September will be here before we know it :swimminfish:

    +1

Time to sign up for the CCC, CAG's largest gathering of members for the year  ; http://www.ccc2012.us/

Make time for the party at Wacker Baits and Tackle on Friday night! :letsjam: Word has it that there will be a huge BBQ!

The CCC is followed by CAG's plenary meeting, dinner and party; this years event will also welcome CAG's new president and administration!

  4. I think Mike and Larry were just conducting a little "test" to see who would scream "foul" most loudly, but your idea has merit. +1

Bill didnt have to worry about the big fish pot money last year! How big was you CCC fish last year Bill?

    :icon_smoking::lol:

...apparently Larry's not done yet :snowballtotheface:

  5. At last years CCC we had a raffle, not unlike the one at the ATC. Members and B&T's donated items to this raffle, it was a great fundraiser and a lot of fun. We hope to have the raffle again this year and appreciate items donated (fishing related or other) for this event. I'd actually encourage all of you to donate at least one item for the raffle :) .

The Flea Market would be a separate entity from the raffle; we all have gear we'd like to sell. We can do the Flea Market in a separate room at the dinner reception the night of the CCC. This would give members an opportunity sell, not unlike the Forum's Tackle Trading Post, and to actually see what they are buying. We don't charge a percentage for selling in our Tackle Trading area and I don't see any reason to at the Flea Market.

  6. Caught my 100th carp today.I know many others have way over 100 fish and I know some guys have caught 20 or more fish in a day and have done that a few times, but for me 100 carp is the the best year I'v had fishing for carp. This also marks my first full year fishing Euro.I really love carp fishing.

    AWESOME!!! :yourock:

  7. Yes! Totally agree. Good idea, Mike and Larry.

I suppose if some guys balk at 50%, there could be a two-tier system through which you could opt for a 50% donation or a 20% donation.

Or, perhaps consideration could be given to having all flea market items donated at 100% to CAG and have Andy auction them off like we did at ATC this year.

All quite noble of ya guys!

But I think we could leave this up to the individual as to how much they want to donate. :)

  8. here's my feeder for the past few years got a blank mould off ebay. have to drill 1/4 inch hole through for tube which is a thick crazie straw from hobby lobby. then six holes in sides for wire it is for tying rebar only a few bucks a roll. then i spray them with plasti dip for tool handles gives them a rubber finish that holds method well and prevents rust.

    Very Cool!

  9. I have been making my own sinkers (inline and egg type) for years. I did a post about making sinkers on my blog last year. The best way to do it is with metal molds and not wooden ones. The article is here: http://ricarpfishing...wn-sinkers.html

I saw your article last year, Dave. Cool stuff.

I've made lots of leads over the years; from 10 lb downrigger weights, slip sinkers (my favorites), jigs, split shot etc...

I would get my lead from the plumbers, more recently from a tire shop (balance weights) and still have a plumbers stove/pot that screws onto a propane tank.

Some years back I treated myself to an electric pot and if money is no option this one works great: http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=1317273&destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct.jsp%3FproductId%3D741146%26type%3Dproduct%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26searchPath%3D%252Fcatalog%252Fsearch.cmd%253Fform_state%253DsearchForm%2526N%253D0%2526fsch%253Dtrue%2526Ntk%253DAllProducts%2526Ntt%253Dlead%252Bpot%2526x%253D0%2526y%253D0%2526WTz_l%253DHeader%25253BSearch-All%252BProducts%26Ntt%3Dlead%2Bpot%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&WTz_l=YMAL%3BIK-210653

It's been a while but I've had some fun lead melting parties....

BTW I agree that metal molds are best and mass production much easier, but Arvand's wooded molds are way less expensive. :)
