  9. Thank you for letting us know and sharing your memories. His struggles with PTSD and his last words in the article are truly special. Farewell Herk. “I'm too old to try to fulfill my dreams, so I try to help other people fulfill theirs,” he said. “Then you have a sense of worth. Once you do that, you can leave this world and say, 'Hey, I've helped a lot of people. I'm not as bad as I make myself out to be.'”

In 2013 I sat down with my good mate Frank Warwick for a chat. We talked about his, so far, only visit to fish in the USA but more importantly his approaches to finding and catching carp. I hope you enjoy this fascinating discussion and some of the pearls of wisdom that always come from chatting to Frank!

  11. 2021 CAG Membership Drive and Member Appreciation Draw - with over $1500 in prizes! For over 28 years the Carp Anglers Group (CAG) has been dedicated to introducing anglers in North America to the excitement of catch & release carp fishing as well as the protection of trophy carp. Strength in Numbers: One of the critical factors toward ensuring the protection of trophy carp (especially from indiscriminate bow fishing and unregulated or illegal movement of fish) is the continued growth of our membership base. Simply put - The more members we have the greater our presence, influence and representation we can have to ensure better appreciation for carp and carp fishing with state fishery organizations. Every $ Counts! CAG is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers. Every cent of your membership fee goes toward supporting the CAG mission and better outcomes for our favorite sport fish. We need you! Now is the time to step up and join CAG. It costs only $25 for new members (which includes a New Member Pack) and then just $20 a year for renewals. 12. Monty Mittleman aka Cartooncarp was CAG's resident artist for many years. He created some amazing artwork for event awards and t-shirts. If anyone has some examples they could copy or photograph and post them here it would be much appreciated!
  13. Thanks for the photos. Very much appreciated and if ok we'll use them in NACA magazine.
  14. I would always like to see more folk on the CAG Forum (which is now exclusive to members only) but many over the years, like Horace, are now on Facebook or Instgram. CAG has its own Facebook page with over 4,800 members https://www.facebook.com/groups/carpanglersgroup plus as you say there are also many other locally focused or specialist groups that effectively compete with the CAG forum. Much has changed from the original CAG Compuserve days. There is still some good dialogue in the members only area as well as the Big 4 posts etc but it would be great to see more!
  15. What do you think changed in the membership package? We've always included some basic tackle for beginners, a printed magazine, stickers etc.
  16. Perhaps you have a pop-up blocker that prevents it opening? If I 'hover' the cursor over the calendar event I see a pop-up with details (see image) and if I click it opens up to a new screen. What browser are you using?
  17. 1. CCC and NY Fall Fish-In both open to show details for me. Are you signed into the CAG Forum? 2. Birthdays not showing. No idea why right now but will investigate.
  18. Does anyone have some photos of Phone? Ideally holding a carp?
  19. It is with great sadness that we learned today of the passing of Dale Anderson from Indiana. Dale was an active CAG Member for many years and we send our condolences to his family and friends.
  20. Details, Rules and Registration: https://www.carpanglersgroup.com/forum/index.php?/forum/420-2021-cag-fall-big4/ Registration open Sept 1 - 30th - No entries accepted once competition has started. Entry Fee is only $10 You must be signed in as a CAG member to enter!
  21. In the early 2000's there was a significant fish kill that possibly impacted the number of bigger fish. The recent carp marathon produced a good number of 20+ fish
