  1. After another month of computer issues, editing s/w updates, corrupted templates, I was FINALLY able to get another episode edited and released. So, it's time to sit back, grab an extra HUGE mug of java and watch the show. https://youtu.be/nv1CQwVaGnI An overnight session at Chatfield Reservoir resulted in many common and mirror carp for me, including a great mid 20s mirror just after midnight. James caught consistently throughout the night with some good fish banked. Hope you Enjoy! John CarpQuest
  2. Started chumming a new swim a couple hours before midnight, then fished a little and caught two small commons.......hmmmm... not good. But, at the rate of 2 fish per hour, fishing gradually picked up in terms of size!........what started as 4-8 lbrs quickly rose to my personal best, next to last, linear mirror carp!, and a 20-1, 33" at that!....This carps ventral aspect was white!- I thought it was some aberrant catfish at first as it didn't fight like a carp and SOOOOOOOO Excited when I landed it!!............so tired, but it invigorating catch!!!!!..........waitin to be approved to log the fish on the CAG Big Four.......went back to my original pack bait, as my newer lime or lemon based hadn't been working as well, but the lemon came through (the 13-5 fell to that).......WOW what a start!!!......... 4-5, 12-3, 7-0, 13-0, 14-2, 13-5, 5-0, -8, 13-2, 6-2, 20-1, and 14-2!!!!............
  3. In this week’s new special episode of CarpQuest we travel 5000 miles back to the UK for a summer vacation. I took with me all the tackle I could pack so I could take my niece out fishing whilst there. The Quest, to help Stephanie catch her first ever fish, a carp. Could we get it done? Hope you enjoy ! Tight-Lines, John
  4. What an epic days fishing at Chatfield with my friends, Ron and Bob. Both landed their new PB common carp, Ron with a 24 lb'er and Bob with a 22.5 lb'er. I added a few more to our days tally including a nice mirror towards the end of the session. Hope you Enjoy !
  5. Crazy hot weather and carp fishing action on Memorial Day weekend. I pushed the scales close to 30 lb's a couple of times with some mighty Chatfield Reservoir common carp. Scopex Squid doing the job paired with Trokar Magnum curved shank hooks. An insane session with over twenty carp landed. A new PB mirror was landed for Bob Crook and an almost twenty pound common for James. Hope you enjoy our latest episode! Tight-Lines, John CarpQuest
  6. Multiple mugs of coffee cannot prepare you for this insane session from a few weeks ago. With my usual spots taken I setup on the east shore of the main reservoir facing out into the wide open water. What a crazy session followed, with four carp in the 20's landed, a handful of fish in the mid teens and finally a new PB mirror. What a great afternoon's carp fishing! Hope you enjoy. <teaser: the new PB mirror carp only lasted a week, landed an even bigger one the next session!> Hope you Enjoy ! John CarpQuest
  7. The carp and coffee gods just continued to show me favor this spring; the coffee just kept on flowing ! With thunderstorms forecast we returned to Chatfield Reservoir for an afternoon session with Bob and Ron. By mid afternoon the storms blew through and the fish started to show. Our efforts were rewarded late afternoon with another new PB mirror for me and the first ever carp for Ron. For just a short session, great results. Hope you Enjoy. John CarpQuest
  8. Hi all! A tale of two days fishin!- Sunday was very difficult- one of my creeks was covered in filamentous algae and floating gobs of it, which hung on the line, and the bait just sank into it.......don't have and haven't used pop-ups but I think that would have been great.....anyway hooked 4 and landed 3, including this 7lb 3ozr, 10lb 8ozer, and 3lbr (not shown-not a very flattering pc of me .......and then today was a far different story-went to a different creek, which for some reason didn't have the algae matts-hooked 6 and landed 5-literally I cast one pole, set the line, and as I cast the second, got a hit on the first and hooked him-this nice 12lb 5ozr, and the second rod took off but couldn't hook, him, but 12 minutes later, hooked and landed the 9lbr, then a 7 (with abnormal barbels), AND THEN, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CARP IVE EVER CAUGHT!!- THIS SPECTACULAR 5LBR- MIRROR- WHAT A FISH!!!!........hope it grows to a 20lbr someday!!!!., ended the 3 hour session today with this 8lbr...I thought I was addicted, but now I'm obsessed!!!!.....good luck out there-fishin warmin up!!!!.......
  9. (MO) MOCarper

    Nice day!- pretty mirror

Nice day!- went to new swim which produced a 17 lbr a couple weeks ago behind a snag, but then floods moved in and no more snag......still, caught 5 carp today, 13-8, 10-3, 7-8, 5-7, and the last fish a 10-4oz mirror!...beautiful fish with symmetrical pattern--these still remain the prettiest carp I've caught anywhere-not sure why that is.....thanks for looking!!
  10. Well carp fans, though it's been a while, hopefully the wait will be worth it. Time to grab a bucket of coffee sit back and enjoy our latest episode, a single cup just won't be enough ! In this week’s episode of CarpQuest we only had time for a very short afternoon session. Aided by a Deeper Smart Sonar Plus we quickly found the fish. The next four hours were incredible, with a dozen carp landed, including four twenties, five mirror carp and a new PB mirror carp for me. Hope you enjoy !
  11. In this weeks episode of CarpQuest we met up with my friends, James, Ron and his son, Jordan. With water temps cold I decided to go back to basics and fish simple rigs with a range of CC Moore Hellraiser pop-ups. For those that have often asked, who want the "how-to", hopefully this episode shows you a bit more of the rigs I use in action. Hope you enjoy! Tight-Lines, John
  12. In this weeks new episode of CarpQuest, Andrew Holt and I host an impromptu Carp Anglers Group - Colorado fish-in at Andrew's local lake, the Fairgrounds in Adams County. Though we are the only 2 full CAG members here in Colorado, we fly the flag and do our best to promote catch & release carp fishing to the local masses, spreading the word. The fish-in proved to be remarkable, with almost 20 carp banked between the two of us, including a couple of nice twenties and four carp pushing 18 lb's. Hopefully this video demonstrates that carp truly are the "Worlds Greatest Sportsfish" and that we have some amazing mile-high carping available here in Colorado. We certainly do have some beautiful wild specimens here in our state. If you are ever interested in getting in a session here in our State, just drop us note and hopefully help to get you onto some fish. Tight-Lines, John
  13. In this episode I returned again to Chatfield Reservoir, Kingfisher, following the previous session which was ended abruptly by bad weather. The afternoons fishing was dominated by the crayfish eating every bait I cast out. Finally I switched over to a harder bait, the creamed tiger nuts, hoping these would withstand the crayfish longer. Within a few minutes, it was carp on and a mirror, then a common, were soon landed. Colorado's diverse wildlife never ceases to amaze. The session ended with me watching a black bear cub, swimming across the lake. Hope you enjoy!John
