Had an idea for fish ins to attract more carpers and let carp anglers

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking about this. In PA we have I believe two free fishing days per year where you don't need a license to fish. I am sure other states are like this and I am sure they have those days at different times as well.On those days you get a lot of guys that don't fish regular and wouldn't this be one of the best days to attract more people to the sport since there would be a lot of non regular fisherman out for the day? SO while having a fish in a lot of people that don't usually fish would have a chance at a big hard fighting carp and maybe they would be more interested in fising regularly after enjoying a fish in.

Now my other idea also goes along with this as well for us carp anglers. Most of us would love to travel to a few states during the year but don't feel like paying for licenses in tons of states so maybe if a fish in was scheduled on those free days in each state it would allow non resident carp anglers the ability to travel to a new state to fish for free and pretty much be guaranteed some carp action since it was a fish in and the area would be prebaited. Just some ideas for everyone to think about for the new year coming up.

FISH FOR FREE DAYS 2008

Saturday, May 24 & Sunday, June 1

Fish for Free Days allow anyone (resident or non-resident) to legally fish for Pennsylvania’s most popular fish without a fishing license. Each year the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission's Executive Director designates 2 Fish for Free Days. No fishing license is required to fish on Pennsylvania's waterways on these days. All other fishing regulations still apply.

Fish for Free Days are the perfect opportunity to introduce a friend or relative to the lifelong sport of fishing. There’s no better way to enjoy Pennsylvania’s great outdoors than a day of fishing with the entire family

The fisherman still have to follow all rules like they would if they had a license like said above. I know on these days I always see double the amount of people out fishing and a lot of families take part in this as well.

Very cool idea. Maybe speaking with a Fish & Boat Commision rep to allow an announcement on their site would be an idea?....

If you need the web guy for the Fish and Boat Commision site for Pa. , I have his name and number if you think you wanna call?

We always try to hold a fish-in on the free fish-in dates, its good to get new guys out fishing, and out of state carpers to Michigan for the weekend.

The east and west idea could be a cool combination. I will have to check with Steve to see if any fish ins were already planned around those dates.

We have held our fish-ins in the last two years on the free fishing day here in RI. Yes, it did attract fishermen from out of state. In fact, we had guys from CT and MA come to our fish-in. It is a very good idea.

I made a list of all 50 states in alphabetical order for a reference. If you post up your state i can add them in and also like ontario if you are outside the US I can add them in also. I will have to see if I can make it out to lancaster. I think its a little over 2 hours. Does this place have a website I can check out?
