I know that I have already sent out a post about our upcoming end of the year banquet http://www.carpangle...e...c=42896&hl= but I want you to know just how special the night will be & what it means to me. Certainly, we are coming together to honor Bigbird for catching those “Stinkin Monsters” this year.

We are also gathering with friends to socialize and broaden our circle even a bit more. Both of those things are very important but I have failed to mention something that is going to make this night even more special. Rod Mills, from our CAG group is making a special effort to “come see us” and be on hand that night to present Bigbird with the “Second Annual Michael “Bigbird” Strickland Four on the Floor Award”.

Rod hails from Cincinnati, Ohio. His son is graduating from Basic Training early next week at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia & he is swinging by the Captain’s Qtrs for 2-3 days before heading back to Ohio. Rod holds a very special place in my heart because two years ago when grandson Gage was in the NICU at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, Rod adjusted his schedule to not only visit Gage & family in the hospital but he even took me fishing & out to eat as well!! I want Rod to see how we operate. I’d love to see 25-30 folks at Wallace’s to give him just a small taste of the love and camaraderie that I am blessed to experience every day.
If you have not responded yet to my invitation I sure hope that you will give it some thought & help me to extend some real Southern Hospitality to “Uncle Rod” next week! (Remember, I need to know if you are coming by next Tuesday @ noon! (So far, we have 20 signed up to come!!)

In the meantime, if you don’t think that God is still in the miracle business, just look at our Gage now!!!!

BTW, you might just see a bit more about our contest in an upcoming NACA! Stay tuned and Come see us!

Zoomie: Word on the street is that the nice Ol Captain isn't going to be so nice to BB in 2011. I didn't say that, it's just the word on the street :)

I have been lucky since 2004 to travel and meet some of the finest people in this world that I met on the Internet!!! CAG has brought me many pleasures. From Texas to Delaware I have laughed, ate and spent time on the bank with many of you. This coming week I get my chance to

"Come See Us!"

The Captain and his crew on their home turf is what Im talking about. I know we will laugh and I know we will learn and I know we will eat but one thing Im planning to avoid is a Ga drive by!! So that will keep me on my toes.

I would say that this coming week is very special for me. First my son(Christopher) is completing Army basic training, now I have to admit I was ready back in October for him to go! I love him but its hard being 19! you know!!! He has changed in many ways in just a short time it seems based on our limited phone calls and handful of letters I have received. My son also become a father 3 weeks before he left for basic and that means Im a new "Pappy" I cant put into words what this new baby boy has brought to my life but I have spent time reflecting on my visit to Philly to see Gage and meet the Captains family.

I cant wait to meet the rest of his extended family at Wallace BBQ on Thursday night. Now I have met a few of you outside your home turf and Although I would never attempt a Ga. drive by on the bank Im not making any promises when it comes to BBQ on Thursday, so watch your plate fellows cause if I see a piece of bark on your plate Im liable to go for it!!!

I hope to share some pics from my adventure upon my return next weekend.

thanks,
rod
