Carp Angling World Championship

Recommended Posts

I must admit chaps and chapesses it's pretty quiet out there considering it's just around the corner. Either everyone is busy making last minute changes and tweaks or everyone's gone secret squirrel

In order to get the chat going I thought I'd ask what people's plans are - the US is well represented and most attendees are CAG stalwarts so post up your arrival and departure dates along with where you're staying pre and post tourney and lets see if we can get a little Social going on somewhere.

I'll start us off - Jeff and I are arriving late Thursday night - 22nd - and are staying in one of Terry's lodges at Specialist up until the Sunday a.m.

I'm thinking of arranging a corn boil and BBQ on the Friday night combined with a rig tying session on the porch - I need to run this by Tel but doubt it will be a problem - if anyone is up for it from about 5pm let me know, otherwise lets nominate a bar and knock the head off a few frothies, feel free to shout up fella's :party0012icon:

After the event - we haven't made any plans, probably get drunk and celebrate the win on Friday ( :pcorn: ) then go find a bar on the saturday

So chuck up your thoughts on this thread and lets see what we can make work

Good stuff fella's :yourock:

Mark, we're checking out some of Dave's new pegs during friday so we're familiar with them prior to the draw. PM me your cell number so I can call you on Friday.

John, we'll see you around Specialist on Friday, would be good to meet up for a chin wag. If my 100k of bait doesn't turn up by then, you might be my new best friend :D

Andrew, yes I'm taking my mobile, if we can't make it out Friday with the Ogden Massif I'll see you at the draw Saturday and we'll meet up after the event.

Pat and I should be arriving anytime between Friday and Saturday - not decided yet! lol We're staying at the Riverview on Saturday night and if we arrive Friday we'll crash somewhere... a social on Friday sounds good, so maybe that'll kick us into gear to getting there for then. Phil and his son Stuart should be at the Riverview sometime on Thursday I think.

Look forward to seeing you all... it's going to be fun, if nothing else! :D

Louis and I are leaving on Friday, but we probably won't get up to the Massena/Ogdensburg area until Saturday sometime.

We've heard from Dave that there is a bivvy city at Coles Creek for competitors (no fishing, but free camping) so we might try and stay there to save some cash.

Can't wait for it to get started! It's going to be a blast. Looking forward to hanging with everyone before the tourney and afterwards!

Carphd and I have talked to Dave--correct on NO FISHING and NO CHUMMING at coles for friday/sat nights.

Paranoia :o tends to creep in with loads of tackle outside while we stay inside a hotel PRIOR to an event. Dave said he would contact the park police so we don't see the inside of a jail cell  for anyone staying the night at coles.

We will be driving up either Friday (work depending) or Saturday.

We really should be up there NOW! as the amount of work being produced at the moment is miniscule ~8 with the worlds a mere 10 days away.

We did a day session at Coles Creek at exactly this time last year. Completely deserted and absolutely stunning, it felt like we were doing something wrong by being there but nobody said anything! Conditions weren't condusive to fishing as you'll see, but we did catch

Bruce Forsyth impression

Plus two, busy tying rigs every evening, my wife thinks I've finally turned.... ~8

Not sure what is worse, driving up 81 for 8 hours or praying that the baggage handlers were gentle whilst enjoying an eight hour flight from the UK.

working for an airline myself and having to fix what they break (aeroplanes) i take the latter.

one time i flew back from the states and landed at heathrow, my attention was drawn out the window to a motley crew of wreckers (thats what we call them in my department!) that had taken up position ready for unloading. one was sat down playing imaginary drums, two on air guitar, an air violinist and a lead singer jumping around. when it came to unloading, they were banging on the roof of the cargo bay and shouting "oh sh1t" pretending to break things, which could be clearly heard by all the passengers. i then watched with horror as my rod tube was slung on a cart quickly followed by about 20 suitcases that got launched on top of the tube. i thank bazooka pro rod tubes that my rods were still all in two peices when unpacked!
