Some call it Continuing Education. Others may refer to it as Staff Development. To some it simply means enhancement or broadening one’s horizons. Regardless of the name, a rose is still a rose.
Several prominent members of the GON forum came by the Acworth Spillway today to learn just a little bit more about what this Carpin’ with the Captain thang is all about.

Several brought tips to the table while some just came to absorb and to learn but at the end of the day we had all gone to school.
The day started off like so many others. When I told Maximus Relaximus (The Ultimate Carp Hound) that we may have folks coming to see us today, he almost jumped out the window with excitement!

As scheduled, Max, Cool Dad and the Captain pulled out of the driveway promptly at 7:00AM. With only 18 miles to travel it wasn’t long before the classroom began to take shape.
Our first participant was none other than GON member JackHerber. Jack came by to get a refresher course on several topics but he also brought a special piece of his own unique equipment to share. As I saw the brace of rod holders attached to Jack’s chair I had to quietly have a moment of silence for my hero, John Wayne.
Our next guest like Cool Dad , is a retired railroad man. Cool Dad has been trying for some time to get Mr. Ellis “Buddy” Lee to join us and join us he did! Not only did Ellis come by for the usual photo opportunity, he also came by for a class in PPD 101 !! (Proper Pull Down 101)
As the day unfolded we were also joined by one of my favorites…..Bassboy1. Dawson came by once again to update his Bank-Talk status and to talk some tricks of the metal working trade with the ever popular Cool Dad Gill.
By now I was already 10 p-nut butter crackers, one can of Beenie-Weenie’s, an apple and one Carp to the good. How could this day get any better?
Who could add any more to our class of furthering education? I thought you’d never ask…………………
In any group you have a leader. In school you have a principal. At work you have a boss. On the GON Forum you have Moderator and you also have Administrators. Well, believe it our not, our very own Fred W came by today to investigate this bank side phenomenon ! He had seen the pictures and read the stories but there are some things that you just have to experience for yourself.
Max and I talked later & wondered if Fred really believed in Lick & Release.

We also wondered if he was critiquing the art of Bank Relaxation.
Like I said, there are some things you just have to experience yourself. Either way, I think the Crew and I passed the Litmus Test because Fred has graciously agreed to come see us again!
Before I close, I need to mention our very last guest of the day! Captain Robert Eidson has been following our stories for years. He is a busy man and has a busy schedule but as he drove over the Spillway road above us I think I heard him mention that he would catch the next class, especially if he could take it on line!!!!! (on line.....get it?)
Thanks to all of you for coming by today! We had a great time!! We will be holding other classes soon so Come see us when you can!!
