We had a small group show up to our RI spring fish-in at Brickyard Pond today. There was Jeff and his daughter Isabelle, Nick, and myself. With very cold temperatures (below freezing last night) and a strong NW wind, we did not have ideal conditions, but unlike our last fish-in last fall, we did manage to catch some fish. Nick had the first runner, had the fish on and lost it. A while later, Nick had another hit but this time he landed it. It turned out to be a common in the 8-10 lb. range. I got on the board next with a decent size trout that ate my doughball. A short time later I had another trout. I also got the next fish, a common in the 8-10 lb. range that looked similar to Nick's fish. And, that was it. We had lots of taps and bangs on the doughballs we were using, but the fish were just not in the taking mood. Still, it was great to get together with these guys and share information as well as make plans to fish together again soon. The company was great, the fishing was fair.
