wow so many carp....
so many carp not eating...just making love
its frustrating to fish an area with so much action just not for your bait....
friday night blanked...
saturday night had the two largest carp i have ever had on and lost both of them....
was watching them graze through my baited swim sediment covering them so they almost were ghostly
the lights from the hotel windows illumenated them...i put my bait in the area where the light cascaded over the water.
but even with all the chaos and excitement of the heavy hook ups i still blanked.
sunday my confidence low i went extra mentally prepared.....first five hours were not looking good..
i had carp eating my bait sporadically but no grazers no hits...
5:30 i was moving my bait and it was outta the water...i saw a carp peek out under my feet from under the boardwalk
and the sneaky cow she was eating my bait from the cover of the floor beneath my feet....i slid the bait in as slowly and stealthily as i could and she took it after a couple minutes....then it was like someone openned the gates for the horses at the racetrack...she burst forth on an unstoppable run....
she was a lotta fun ...pure spirit....i was in awe of her greatness
we broke my net handle ...her and i as i hoisted her up outta the water....
she was a beauty worth waiting for....

she was 37 1/2 inches and 13.55 kilos or shy of 30lbs......
the carp sat night were way bigger but i fear if i am gonna land those they have to be taken at night
i would have to bulk up from 6lb test mono to 10lb mono or braid.......
a little more experience with the 30lbs carp is required i think before i have any hope of out foxing the bison ghost carp that graze the harbours at night.
i am already learning that landing larger carp is not just muscling them in....i think you have to mentally defeat them into submission....if they don't mentally give up
at that size you just cannot force them into the net....i think i'll bring my muskie cradle next time....
i have seen defeat and hopelessness in the last 3 carp i have landed.

good stuff man, a nice fish to say the least - im sure you know by now that by just letting the fish run, and tire it self out, you can eventually just haul the fish in. As for the net, I as well as many others have made that same mistake..........just as a thought, once youve netted the fish......lift the handle straight up vertically and once you can grab the mesh, lift the fish by the mesh of the net to take all the weight off the net handle or arms etc

good luck man, and keep up the great posts! I love reading them!

Amazing! What a slab, full of eggs ready to produce more Carp! Sometims you just need to simplify and that usually produces results. Good luck and tight lines.
