Guest THE BIG WORM
Is there still campinog by the pavilion? I have always tried to accommodate folks in need for the event and found a place for anyone who has contributed to the event, helped with the event, or been supportive of my efforts, other promoters, or proved to be friends and supportive\complimentary of the efforts by the City of Dixon and myself. With that said, it would be advised that you speak to me personally before you make the long trip up Bill. Grahame Johnston
I was waiting for the additional Angler class mentioned by Larry Kirchner in the preceeding information for the 2014 Dixon Carp Derby and in the posting of 4th August 2014 I must admit to having read and re-read this several times in order to clarify the new format for this upcoming event. This competition does in fact portray the title of "The Dixon Family Carp Derby" and the real intent of promoting carp fishing with catch and release methods to the many families and youngsters who all come to learn this 'art of angling'. With the addition of the Advanced Division, some twenty prizes become available for presentation in the Adult Division as well as those prizes for the Boys and Girls. In previous years many of the top prizes went to the more experienced anglers who now must compete in the Advanced Division where they still have a real chance of taking home considerable cash awards. The change in format for this event is a change for the better and I am looking forward to competing again this year.
FJR1
I, too, like the format changes, but I seek clarification about the "advanced division." In the first section of the guidelines, it says, "there will be Professional Carp Anglers fishing against each other in a team category inter-mixed throughout the Derby area. One angler fishing one day, and the other the next." However, in the "Advanced Division" guidelines, there is no mention of a team tournament, and it appears as if a single angler can participate on both days: "Winning order will be determined by adding your Three Largest Common, Mirrror, Leather, Koi or Hybrid Carp caught over the two days of fishing." Which is it? Thanks.
Zatesta
Not your normal carp event but definitely one of the more fun ones... Unless you drink a bottle of moonshine and have to wake up and steward the next day! It's a great opportunity to get normal fishing folks to see safe catch and release methods and good fish care. Plus helping the kids is always fun, especially when the girls category is won using a gummy bear. Hate that I have to miss it this year but count me in for next years! The Advanced Anglers will fish both days and there are no teams or Team event I missed that. Right now I think I will be able to get enough help. Lee and Eric are coming down, and I have some kids going to help. However, Edward may have moved, so I am still looking for extras. If for some reason people don't show I may ask you guys to help weigh each other if we are short.
