OK Minnesotans what day works best for fish in?

Recommended Posts

For the month of July I have free the weekends of the 11th or the 19th. We can do either Saturday or Sunday or both. We can also do an overnight and fish at night as well. I have a couple 2 man tents and a super giant tent folks are welcome to use to camp out if they want. I'll provide a big BBQ for a lunch and dinner and pancake breakfast if needed. If we'll have enough people a keg of beer as well.

Our cabin is on Lake Marion which is in between Hutchinson and New Ulm. It's about an hour away from the cities. Carp breach right off shore of the cabin we have a big dock and a lot of shore to fish from. We also within walking distance of some other swims. The lake also has largemouth bass, pike, walleye, crappie and catfish. I should have a fishing boat available as well.

So let me know what you all want to do and we'll make it happen.

This is a 16lb we caught on our first cast here. (Had something bigger break off 25lb braid)

Doesn't look like I got much interest Jaffar. My other days off for July: the 29th 30th 31st.

Since you are the only Minnesotan who regularly communicates with me you pick the day(s) and that will be the date.

Finally got the dock finished on the 4th. Damn carp were taunting me jumping all around us while we were busy working!

I'm available Saturday/Sunday after July 11. A full day fish in might work best for me, rather than an overnight.

I work the weekend of the 25th. Perhaps we should shoot for a date in August? I have the weekends of the 8th and the 15th free.

Should we all agree on Saturday August 8 ? If we are set, we could put it on the calendar and see who all wants to join us.

Is there considerable shoreline at the lake, in case we get a few people joining us? is it pretty weedy out there?

The 8th is good with me. Not excessively weedy especially by my house we swim right out front too. I am very friendly with my neighbors so I'm sure st least a couple won't mind us spreading out. I think my shoreline could accommodate 6 or 8 rods alone. Plus a few hundred yards from my place is a park with 3 fishing areas with benches. I will get some depth maps and lake info posted in here soon.

Ok here's a link to a depth map http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/data/lakemaps/b0027012.pdfnow I'm located on that point that juts out into the lake to the left of the county park/campground. I am going to try and attach a pic, the red circle is me, the green is the public fishing spots with benches, the purple is the rod and gun club (we are members) they have a boat launch area near the beach that could be fished if needed.

I will post directions (I can't remember the addresss yet) but basically put Lake Marion Mcleod county or Brownton into your GPS. when you are going by the Lake on Rt15 you'll see the end of the lake and the fishing benches, then you will see a sign that says Lake Marion Supper Club, take that road that's my road. Like I said I will post better directions when it gets closer and I will have signage out on the roads the day of the fish in.

Good luck to all you guys.

I wish you were closer (it's 1200 miles). I'd love to come join you.

It must be cooler there than the 95-degree temperatures we've had recently here in Georgia.

Does anyone know how/if we want our fish-in on the CAG calendar? That might bring out another couple of people.
