Sarah came to visit us in MA with a companion, her young sister Marie. Who NEVER caught a fish in her life... Ahah! Something to be fixed...

A first attempt two days ago (when it was REALLY cold) wasn't successful. Marie ended showing us her talent with ice sculptures... And I keep maintaining that the one on the right side looks like a crouched baby elephant... rolleyes.gif

Speaking of animals, look who showed up in the afternoon? <_<

Today, the weather was much nicer. We played it safe, and went to a spot when we KNEW we would catch fish!

When they arrived, I told Marie she was going to catch a fish within five minutes. She was polite but clearly didn't believe me. A few minutes later, she did believe me... cool.gif

This first fish didn't fight much, but the second pulled much harder! And here is Marie's new Personal Best, a nice 11 pounder...

Vinny caught his first fish while Marie was cruising towards her 3rd fish and discovering that this isn't so easy to hold a fish!

And Scott (who had joined us in the mean time with Chris) caught a weird crucian/common hybrid.

After a few mishaps, it was Sarah's turn to catch. She was so happy that she almost kissed the fish!

Vinny had caught a couple, but things were slow on his rod. So he switched to my method of using a critically balanced bait (fake floating kernel of corn, and two real ones). And to our amazement, he landed this stunning linear!

Before you ask, this isn't the same as the one Marius caught a few days ago at the same spot! So we have two linears roaming out there! At least!

I have never seen Vinny so happy. It was his very first linear. Plus his first mirror from this river. A few more pics, this was really a very cool catch! smile.gif

Marie ended up with six carp. Not bad for a first day of fishing... I must say that she impressed me, learning very fast, handling the fish without wincing, releasing the fish herself, and even expertly landing a carp for Sarah!

So two fish of a lifetime today. First carp for Marie, and first linear for Vinny! Well done!

(we also played around with my Aquavu, but this is for another thread!)

Jerome,
Thanks for this picture of Scott. It makes me feel better to know that he does occasionally catch a carp that weighs under 25 pounds.

^ haha Ken, that's awesome smile.gif

We had a great time and I want to go back again soon. I don't care that they were little carp, I'm just glad I caught.

My sister (whose name is actually Mary happy.gif ) had a great time too, as did Vinny.
