Wasn't the first run of the night... I got one earlier, before 12:30AM... And landed the fish...
Still, nice try, Phone, I hope you ended up getting one. -------------------- Jerome Moisand, Arlington MA

Phone,
I hope that you caught something? Tell us, we're all anxious to know! Now let me quote an e-mail from Frank Walters which delighted me this morning. I'm no longer the holder of the first carp award. Narda is. And this couldn't please me more, and I'm sure the same will be true for you. QUOTE The Walters were on the bank at Lake Mead at 11:00 p.m. on December
31st. Narda brought to the landing net a catfish of about 3 pounds at 11;20. She had several short takes between 11:30 and the magical and QUIET stroke of midnight, but no hook-ups. She hooked a fish at about 12:05 a.m. on the first day of 2006 and it was slid into the net at E X A C T L Y 12:10 a.m. The tale of the tape and scale registered the carp's size at 21" in length and 5lbs - 5ozs in weighed. We only fished until 1:00 a.m., since Narda had a job to report to at 5 a.m.. Frank was a miserable failure as a First Fish carper upon this particular January 1st !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -------------------- Jerome Moisand, Arlington MA

Jerome,
We need some consolidation by a skilled administrator. Actually, if you noticed I'm glad I didn't land some sort of brute. The run was somewhere around 11:15/31st. Since I didn't catch anything but catfish I really would have been chaffed. Phone I did take some pics but have no clue how to download. Camera is a 12 mpxl Olympus. Anyone know how (?) Ohh - - - - water temp at the ####/chute was near 60. About 3 or 4 yards out it was near 50. Further out 10 to 15 yards was 42 - 52 in swirls. I also had quite a problem with floaters - ice floaters that is. Thought I had the giant of all giant somethings when I cast and away she went, twisting and turning down the river. Turned out to be one of those lovely ice flows. Phone, Phone On top of the ice flows the temp was an exact 32, imagine that? And not one single feeding carp in the little fish bowl ice flows, all over in the warmer water Phone, Phone, Phone This post has been edited by phonebush: Jan 1 2006, 04:40 PM |
