Hi Everyone !

Our first Tennessee Fish In has been a success and I couldn't be more pleased. The fishing is still on going but here is a sneak preview of what to expect smile.gif -Wayne-

We had two unexpected attendees for our fish in. English Bob (Philip from Georgia) and Ninam (Ivan from Chattanooga) pronounced E-Von showed up for our little get together. I knew to expect Radu from Nashville and when he arrived that made 3 CAG Members present and 1 future CAG (Ivan) on hand for our first Tennessee get together.

Since this is our first time I would've been pleased with just one other person showing up ... imagine my delight when 3 others arrived !

We are fishing below the Kingston Power Dam and with that comes massive towers to support the high tension lines ... but look at this pic and you can see how nature still dwarfs anything Man can create smile.gif -Wayne-

Ok ignore me in this photo ... just look at the show Mother Nature was giving us this morning.

I couldn't help wondering how many people woke up severely hung over this morning or worse yet in jail because of their New Years Eve activities. I was able to enjoy natures show this morning because of Carp Fishing.

Now we start unpacking all of this gear ... Rod Pod, Bank Sticks, Electronic Alarms, you name it.

A local fisherman and his Buddy couldn't resist coming over to find out what all of that stuff was. Conversation went like this ...

Q. Whatchya Guy's fishing for ?

A. Carp

Response ... Oh, we thought with all of that stuff you were going to blow something up !

No kidding this is exactly what was said. English Bob did his best to explain everything to the Striper Fishermen and I put a free NACA and CAG Brochure in their hands.

Educate whenever you can ... laugh later laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Not to be outdone Radu from Nashville started catching. Note the grin smile.gif Radu is a CAG Member that plays Violin in the Nashville Symphony Orchestra (hope I spelled that right) this is his first hook up ... his second was kind of funny.

After successfully landing a 10 pounder Radu hooked another fish and got tangled with another line. I was on the net and Radu said he lost the fish. His rig was tangled with another line which I started pulling in.

Radu apologized for hanging my line ... but when I dragged it in it was a braided line and I was using mono ... I looked at English Bob and he said he was using mono too ... we looked at Radu and it was then he realized he had tangled with his own line laugh.gif

We got both of his rigs back and that was nice smile.gif

Not wanting to let English Bob and Radu have all of the fun ... I started catching. My hook setting ability is rock solid and I can prove it !

If it hadn't been for Radu I would've caught nothing. I was bouncing around talking and scoping out gear and my electronic alarms were silent. It was Radu who pointed out to me that the fish were biting easy ... I started watching my lines.

The very next twitch of one of my lines I nailed him good. BAM ... and I caught a rock. No kidding ... a rock laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Our WWD warm water discharge turned out to be a CWD as it appears the plant is down for maintanence. They made some noise up there but the smoke stacks showed no signs of power production. Just my luck huh ! Take the time to find a WWD and prebait it for 6 weeks and then they turn the power off !!!

The water was COLD as ICE ... the Clinch River derives its water from the snow covered mountains of Eastern Tennessee and that water coming out of the plant was COLD COLD !

We tried the discharge channel for the first hour ... but once we realized how cold it was ... it didn't make any sense to me for the carp to be in the current. Radu and English Bob arrived and we had a meeting ... it was decided that we would fish the outside edges of the current instead and CONNECT smile.gif

Thanks to Radu's observations about the bite ... I caught this 13 pounder smile.gif

Thanks Radu !! -Wayne-

When I left the totals were ...

1- 8 pounder, 2- 10 pounders, 1- 13 pounder and 2- 18 pounders for a total of 77 pounds for 3 CAG Members.

Ivan didn't catch anything but that was because he forgot to join CAG before he came laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

They were still fishing when I left so the totals may change ... I had the Wife and Daughter with me and there were no Boy's Room facilities out there so we left early.

I can't thank Phillip, Radu, Ivan, Dena and Michelle enough for how much I enjoyed this.

We will be scheduling more Fish-Ins for Tennessee soon and the people at this event will get to vote on the future event dates.

Thanks again Guy's biggrin.gif -Wayne-
