I received a detailed Excel sheet from Neil, and did some quick math...

The unstoppable Jim Kirkman landed 18 fish for a total of 132 pounds, including a mirror. Oh, plus a buff (which didn't count).

Brian gave a spirited fight, but he was defeated at a very respectable 16 fish and a tiny bit more than 100 pounds. Including a 2lb 6oz baby carp. Er... Lake Granbury is in Texas? You sure? blink.gif rolleyes.gif

Againt those two giants, Cary found a way to extract 9 fish for 54 pounds. Nicely done, Cary.

Great to see that the two guests, Cliff & Debbie also caught carp.

PS. with a water temp of 48 degrees, the TX crew can't win the emperor award against the MA crew though... Sounds right. cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif

Well,
I'm feeling a bit more relaxed now...
Jerome kind of re-capped it nicely our Total weight in CARP was 326pounds 8.75 ounces.. rolleyes.gif not too shabby for a new venue.....
Cary broke his personal Best Buffalo 4 times, and Avonne, broke her P.B. Buff. ( neither of these were included in the tally...as we did a seperate category for BUFFS

Jackie and I got there at about 3:PM on the 31st and started pre-baiting,,,100 pounds of Range cubes, and 5 pounds of canned corn. and we decided to fish just for the hell of it,,,well Jackie got a 5 pounder at around 4:30, and then the Rods Died !!!!
Mark,(Somethingsmellsfishy) got to the venue at about 5 til midnight, we popped a bottle of champagne, chatted a little bit, and he set up his stuff laugh.gif

All Freaking night, every 15 -20 minutes my alarms went nuts, no fish just taps, a few good runs, but NO FISH..This really was quite annoying to both Mark and myself,,,Oh well !! mad.gif .The first fish came at 7:30 AM and went to Mark, a pretty feisty 8.11 ounce Golden Beauty, the water temperature was 48 degrees and the wind was blowing bad...Jim Kirkman showd up at around the same time and set up at the furthest point, and started nailing fish almost immediately, at the rate of 1 every 15 minutes...talk about getting "PISSED OFF" I was ready to give him some SCUBA lessons mad.gif ,
Others floated in and set up on the venue, which we had all to ourselves, I guess the GAME warden thought he'd have a good time, so he paid us a visit and Checked everyones license,,,it was really funny, as Brian pulls out a license, and says,"NO... THIS ONES ILLINOIS, then another..."NO THIS ONES OKLAHOMA" and so on, till he finally came up with the TEXAS one,,,you could see the Game Warden begin to Chuckle after the third NON TEXAS license laugh.gif ,,,I just got the tail end of the conversation, but I think Brian will be doing an article for him in the Local GAME WARDEN magazine, about Carp Angling and CAG events ( never miss an opportunity ! wink.gif )

It got windy at times, real windy, but that didn't stop anyone from Catching.....and to boot, Jim Kirkman, who admitted that he had NEVER caught a MIRROR either, got one!!!!
Well that just pleased the punch out of Paul Swider, and Mark cause they Knew it would hack me off beyond belief,,,,it was a perfect fully scalled Mirror, I couldn't take a picture of it, because I was crying to much to hold the camera steady laugh.gif

Well, Here's a few shots !!!!

We had a GREAT time....and we'll probably do this Venue again....it was very promising ! lots of Crabs, Mussels, and Crawfish !

We signed up one New Member on the spot..Hook settin'Son of a gun,
and it looks like another 2 will sign on......

a real good time wink.gif

Greetings!

Didn't set up 'till 3:30pm on Sunday. Fished the spot the Sterns left and got many bites and no takers. mad.gif After most people left, I hooked into a couple on dough bait at sundown. Brian netting the first, then Mark the second.
Everyone I met seemed friendly and imformative. Sorry I missed out.
Also, my cag membership package introduced me to my first bit of Euro Tackle.
Good Job Sterns and Congradulations Tex-Carpers!
