Our RI Fish-in is scheduled for Sat., June 2 at Lake Tiogue in Coventry, RI. Tiogue is known as one of the very best big carp waters in RI boasting a good population of 20 lb. plus commons. June 2 is a free fishing day in RI and a license is not required so you out-of staters, "Come on down and enjoy!" We'll be doiong this as an evening/nighttime fish-in, the best time period to fish here.

Here is the important info:

Time: 4:00 PM until dark and even after. I am planning on remaining there after dark.

Place: We'll start off at the Wall (located off Tiogue Ave). We may head to the beach area (off Arnold Rd.) around dusk if the action is slow off the Wall.

Directions
: Rt. 95. Take exit 7. Follow north on New London Turnpike. Take left onto Arnold Rd. and go about a mile or two. At the light, take a right onto Tiogue Ave. (Rt. 3). Wall is located a short distance. Parking is in a dirt lot near the wall. Run Mapquest search, "Lake Tiogue" Wall is located right near Nino's restaurant

Other info: Use of corn is prohibited since trout are stocked here. No license required on June 2. Best baits here.....doughballs, chick peas, tiger nuts. Two rods max.

Hope to see many of you there.

Just a reminder that our fish-in will be held tomorrow at Tiogue. Directions in previous post. We'll start off at the wall about 4:00 PM. I will be a bit late due to a family commitment. We may move to the beach area right before dark depending on how the fishing is going. Thanks to Kev W. for getting the beach permit for us.

I finally decided to take the opportunity! I'll leave in a few minutes... And will come back with plenty of pics.

Thanks a lot for organizing it, Dave.

Well, this was a small but welcoming committee. Many thanks to Dave and Kevin, who are very nice guys and well organized hosts.

Fish didn't cooperate that much, but this Tiogue venue is certainly a scenic venue, I'd love to own a house on the border of this (large) pond!

Dumb of me, I didn't take enough pics, but here is Kevin with the first fish of the evening.

And me with the blooper of all bloopers! Actually my new PB RI (15-8lb).

I left around 10:30 in the evening, don't know if Steve Clow (who came from CT to join us) got his first RI carp, but I'm ready to bet he did.

But the coolest story was Dave coming with a special friend, who caught his Personal Best during the evening, a hefty 17 lber... And no, I don't have this pic, but I'm sure Dave will post it soon.

Many thanks again to Dave & Kevin, this was a great experience.

I want to thank all who came to our fish-in at Tiogue. Great to meet Murph and Steve. Jerome, you are a great ambassador for the CAG! A special thanks to Kev W. for his expertise and his obtaining a permit for us to fish the beach area. Nice also to see old friends like Jon.

We did not catch a lot of fish but we did manage to land a few decent ones after dark. My guest, Chris Maxwell, a newcomer to our sport got a PB, a fish of 17 lbs. along with a good sized white cat. Picture is posted below. Great Job Chris!
