scott,
tides are as follows: 1:06 am low 6:47 am high 1:18 pm low 6:54 pm high well the river was up high today, so managing to find a good swim with nothing in the was to cast was hard. a few fish were caught by the8 or 9 that showed. we even saw some center pin reel action from garry procter. ok ok i have to include myself in this. i found a sweet little swim down a steep embankment the river was strong so it pushed my baits right into a downed tree. but thats ok thats were all the fish were. my first fish turned out to be my new pb mirror 16 pounds of FULLY scaled mirror. had many fish inbetween 10 and 21 pounds. lost one over thirty |

By the time I left there was a total of 22 fish taken by the 9 guys present. 13 by Bob, largest 21+, a 20, and his very nice mirror over 16. Gary Proctor had a very large heavy fish on the center pin/bamboo that dropped the hook after several minutes near the banks. BUT, he did manage one fish, his new PB at 21lbs! Jerome managed a few to high teens, DY managed at least 2, Bill had 2, and I scraped a small one. Eric, Ian, and John Westbrook had bum swims, but all 3 will make up for it tomorrow...
Upon arriving I was greeted with the old holy s**t Scott, the river is WAY up! by Bob, and the river had risen a full 4' since wednesday when I baited it. SO, we were forced to pick and choose little "between the trees" swims, as the water was up in the cheap seats. But, carp anglers are easy to cater to... I had a great time meeting the fellas, I just wish the river had cooperated... Lets see what tomorrow has in store. Just for the record, we only saw 5 or 6 of Bobs fish....JK |

Bob, I didn't know you caught your PB mirror! Congratulations!
So you now have a bigger mirror PB tham me (I had a 15lb so far)... Hmmm. Ok, ok, so tomorrow I will catch a 17lb mirror, just to teach you to respect your elders! PS. did you take a picture of the mirror? I don't think I've ever seen a fully scaled mirror! You sure it wasn't a common with large scales? -------------------- Jerome Moisand, Arlington MA

Well day 2 was kinda dissapointing due to only 4 of us making it back. Jerome, Iain, John Westbrook (who came in the afternoon), and myself fished a still very tough, high Merrimack, and managed a total of about 10 fish. I fished a very snaggy "place" (I hesitate to say swim, cause there wasnt one there:), managing 15 runs and landing only 4 fish, one a 20lber. Jerome managed 2, also with a 20lber. Iain managed 4 or so to just under 20, and John , who finally got into a decent swim (Bobs swim), had only very tentative fish in front of him and no hook ups. I still owe you some big Merrimack fish John!
All in all, I had a good time and would like to thank all who came and fished hard in some real tough conditions. |
