We fished this event in 2 different locations this year and I had the pleasure of fishing with both groups. Kent and I met up on the South side to fish the 45 degree waters of the Chickamauga and Charlie (spoon) W4C and Vasi fished at Kingston.

I was sad that I would miss the activities at Kingston the location I always fish for the FFF but as fate would have it I fished with Kent till early afternoon and then raced to meet up with everyone at Kingston to finish the day. I couldn't have asked for a better result for the event smile.gif

I did my final pre-bait at 11:30 on New Years Eve and then proceeded to set up all of my gear. I had grits pack to mix, rods to rig, and all of the necessary carp care gear to lay out. Just before midnight I was ready and heard a large fish crash to my right. Oh boy they are here biggrin.gif

Off in the distance I heard fireworks and gun shots ... MIDNIGHT ! The Wife called to wish me Happy New Year and good luck and I quickly ended that call with I'VE GOT TO GO !

I tossed in 2 rods and picked up the slack ... hung the hangers and cast in my third to only see my second rod start a screaming run. NO WAY ... not down here where you can blank for 3 days straight. I put the hook to him and Kent pulled up to see the first fish of the FFF at 12:06 AM .... a 15-7 common and I wasn't going to blank biggrin.gif

All was quiet except for the police visiting us until 7:30 in the morning. We had several false runs but the fish were sluggish and only catfish were coming to the nets. I'll let Kent tell you about those biggrin.gif About 20 after 7 in the morning I re-baited and cast all 3 rods to only see my 1st rod start a smokin hot run .. maybe I should be casting more often I thought.

At 7:35 the fish I was looking for came to the net ... a Tennessee 30+ for the FFF.

31-3

Kent and I stuck it out till early afternoon. He had a heart breaking hook up with a large fish that ended with a broken hook length. We shook hands and headed our seperate ways .. he was heading home and I was off to Kingston biggrin.gif

Charlie (spoon) quickly updated me on the fishing conditions at Kingston and I switched baits and rigs to match those. Vasi and W4C had to leave but Charlie stayed with me as a witness and we continued to put fish on the bank. I am hoarse today from inhaling the wind chill and my finger tips are sore and painful from the conditions.

I had 5 fish at Kingston with 2 of them in the 17 pound class and Charlie checked the water temps when I was there and showed them to be 50 degrees. I wished I was in that water because the wind in our face was horrid. Thanks Charlie I owe you for helping to make this my best FFF ever and Kent we have to do it again ! -Wayne-

I blocked for you on the cops because I couldn't have them hauling my witness away laugh.gif Dang that break off was a heart breaker sad.gif

The police were shining lights on Kent and he snored thru it all ... I heard Kents address when they called in our tag numbers so by telling him what street name he lived on I convinced him that the police had actually been there biggrin.gif
