With Charlie pulling out the day before and no one else having shown up, Sue and I were sitting lonely at site number 3 the new-years eve.

Chad managed to arrive just before park close to find Sue and I napping in our warm tent. A cold front had hit us hard earlier that afternoon and the heavy cold winds were starting to develop some bite.

Up again just before midnight to re-set the rods and pop the cork on a bottle of bubbly around a nice fire. A bit windy but not a bad way to bring in the New Year.

Through the night, the alarms rested silent once again and I tried to stay in the sack as long as I could the following morning.

Dang-it if we didn't get some more eager participants in the middle of the night. (More on that later)

At dawn my alarm awakened me with an intermittent tone and I stumbled out of the tent in shorts and a t-shirt into icy winds. I grumbled something like ^#%&^ #$%#%# catfish! I look up and Chad is into a fish and his line is angled way right so I assume his fish is in my line. I lift it off of the alarm and rest it on the pod with the bait runner on and set about getting a net for Chad and I scramble back into the warm tent for some more clothes. I come back out and Chad had netted his own PB white ameur. This grasser wrapped the scales to 36-8, very nice way to start the morning even if it’s not what we’re after.

I retreat from the cold to my nice warm tent again. Another story begins here so I’ll leave that till later.

Terry and Chris arrived around Noon. It was good to have someone else join us as I didn’t have much in common with our other company. (More on that later)

Terry got set up and we sat around talking. We fixed up a late lunch as Sue and I were in the process of packing up a bit at a time. We’d intended to leave much earlier but Terry and Chris were such good company it was difficult to leave.

We were just about done packing up for the trip home when Terry lifted into a nice fish. This fish wasn’t coming straight to the net either and we began to guess species and size as the battle ensued with the multiple runs; it had to be a carp. Mid 20’s was my guess. Eventually, the fish comes to the net and I began my usual heckling, “it’s a baby” “wha, maybe 11 pounds or so?” LOL The fish on the mat and a beauty it is. 20 lbs. 3 oz of near perfection.

It’s 3:30 and I have to leave just as the carp are starting to feed again. Ah well there’s always next time.

Goodbye’s all around and we’re on our way. Chad was staying on another night with weather forecasts calling for 25 degree temps, I was almost glad to be on my way home.

Wife's got to get the pics all resized and grouped. Also some of the pics turned out kind of wierd due to some unknown issue and she's trying to get it fixed. It'll be a day or so before I can get it all together.
