Well, I don't know how was the weather outside the Boston area, but I went fishing the Charles river today afternoon for three hours, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous.
Outside temperature was ~45 degrees F, almost no wind at all. This was a very bright day, the colors of the sky, the Boston skyline and the river kept changing, really beautiful. I even saw planet Venus (or so said a nice guy who showed me where to look). Of course, what didn't hurt is that I did pretty good with my fishing, catching a 10 pounder, another one, and then a smaller one. Three carp in three hours end of December? Never would have believed it. The new 11 feet rods I got from Terry were baptized, each of them. And it's really a pleasure to play a fish with such a rod, quite a change from my 7 feet bass rods... Terry, thanks again. Finally, I discovered that fishing with a walkman is really great. Listening to the last CD from Emmylou Harris while watching the river and waiting for fish to bite, that is absolutely cool! Ok, maybe not much of a story, but I really enjoyed every minute of it... I certainly hope that Jan 1rst will be as successful! -------------------- Jerome Moisand, Arlington MA

Here is a picture. The first fish I caught with one of your rods, Terry!

Great news, hope to get out myself and give the Larry a winter bash next week. Not sure how much winter fishing has been done on the river?

fishing over those railings must be a bit of a bugger.

QUOTE (telfish @ Dec 28 2003, 11:17 AM) fishing over those railings must be a bit of a bugger. Not really. Using long rods does help to play the fish (I tried again today, with similar success!), but the key is using this net with a rope (see the picture) that I can lower to the water to get the carp. Technique courtesy of Scott Osmond. Not always easy to drive the carp in there, but I'm starting to get the hang of it... -------------------- Jerome Moisand, Arlington MA
