Hello fellow carpers, ALERT! UPDATE! COLD WINS!!!!! huh.gif wacko.gif bonk.gif hammerhead.gif Happy New New Year! Paul, Jesus, and I headed out to our pre-baited swim at roughly 6:30am and had a few lines in by 7am. The truck thermometer read 7degrees and the radio said 10 mph wind with a wind chill of -15. Got everything set-up(bivy's,grill,pods,heaters) and was able to get a sunrise shot over Jesus's gear. Took some time to get pictures of the venue, gear, and venue signage. First fish(Jesus) was at roughly 8:30am. After a decent tug-o-war an 18-7 came to the scales. A short time later, Paul Pazella of Wacker Baits had a very slippery run from his car to his pod. We weren't sure if he would break something on the run over or lose the fish in one of the many river snags. He very nimbly made it and expertly landed a 15-13 with the help of an experienced net-man. There was a couple hour wait until the next run and I was able to land a fat 12-9. Lot's of hot chocolate and several fish strategy meetings later, we said UNCLE! While we were breaking down the gear, Jesus got the final fish of the session a 9-8. We spent roughly 6 hours in insanely cold weather and were still able to produce about 55 lbs. of fish from our combined swim. Not a bad way to start the new year. Hope yours was warmer and as much FUN! tongue.gif wink.gif smile.gif later

Great report and outstanding pics, Tracy! Considering the brutal conditions, 55 pounds in 6 hours is quite a haul, especially compared to our (Joliet's) nine pounds in 15 hours. Encourage Paul to submit that 15-13 for MCAA winter tournament posting and you should submit that 12-9. Too bad Jesus didn't get in. You can always replace those entries with bigger fish. I'd just like to get some entries and real photos on the board, especially after a blank session for most of us at Joliet. Congrats to the Chicago crew. You ruled. yourock.gif --Frank

Chi,

You didn't say - - were any of them hooke in the mouth or were they all just snagged?

You guys are tough and then some.

I wonder if the person who made the wanted sign did enough research to find that the US government stocked carp?

SWMO,

I read that sign a couple times - then again a couple more. Except for the "domestic" vs "wild" statement I bet - - - technically, every word is true. What the he!! is a domestic carp???
