So here we are, with the final results and customary statistics.

We had 147 registered participants, the cold front took quite a toll, but at the end 95 brave souls did go fishing on Jan 1st, including 12 juniors, across 15 states/provinces, catching 112 carp for a total weight of approximately 845 pounds.

Oh, and Phone, 92 of those carp were caught in a water temp less than 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Oh, and Neil, 5 of those carp were mirrors. And 4 of those carp were kois, and one of them was actually a mirror koi (the Gordons are unstoppable!). But none were caught on a fly, the corresponding challenge remains...

Jerome,

Suggestion for next year. Add the forum name of the angler when it's known. Now that I don't "fish around" I don't know some of the guys and gals real name.

W A Y TO GO CARP !! The anglers had nothing to do with it. Again it was just an extrdaniry effort to please from the carp.

I think the FFF really personifies the depth of commitment shown by our members - both for the love of Carping - and perhaps more so for the communal fun side of things. I talked to a few of the participants during the night, & next day - and, to a man -- they were all happy to be present and a part of the 'big picture'. Considering the abominable conditions at most venues, I'm more than glad I was tucked up in my shelter - with the temps only in the low 40'sF tongue.gif I had a heater going during the chill of the night - but really didn't need it with the amount of clothing I had on!!
Here's a huge Congratulations to the various winners - who clearly had a good 'game plan' and stuck it out for the duration yourock.gif
As for the ruling about my fish not counting because of no witness being present -- I can't deny I was alone, yet -- the recipient of the Award was the first person I called to share my catch - only minutes after I released the fish. He and I know the facts, and they will no doubt remain there!! wink.gif
Both he and his partner deserve a major round of applause - as they suffered some very daunting wind chill factors ----- kept a positive mental attitude --- and managed to haul a great bag of Carp. My cap is off to you, John & Charlie - for a well thought out effort -- that paid off handsomely for you both. I hope the frostbite gets better soon ohmy.gif
Although prizes would be very nice -- that was not why I fished the FFF. My 17yr old son was registered to fish with me - and, as I didn't get to see him over Xmas (he lives with his Ma) this was going to be some valuable 'bonding time' for us both. As it all played out - he let me down at the last minute (kids????) as he thought computer store sales were more important than being with me wacko.gif
So - I missed out on a lot more than any prizes could ever give -- yet, I wasn't going to let the whole thing just 'slide' and fished alone.
Again -- great kudos to all that participated, to the proud winners - and of course a big thanks to Jerome for really making a huge effort to make this a very memorable FFF -- and hopefully assure the event will grow in popularity from here on out.
Cheers,
Brid.

This is an excellent idea, and we don't have to wait for next year to do so. I changed the winners' post to include the forum names. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, I took note of your idea of a team award. I think this could be a nice addition.

Also I think it might be a good Idea to Have to post all pictures of all carp caught for the Emperor award on the anglers report" not just a few .

Zoomie has pics of all his catches, but I think he is saving them to go along with the FFF story he is writing for the NACA. Maybe blame Jerome tongue.gif that they were not posted this time.

Pretty amazing that we had 97 maniacs willing to go out in that mess. I thought Charlie and I about froze to death until I saw repeated pics of zero degree temps and lower.

Jerome, a huge thank you for hosting the event. I am unsure why you elect to torture yourself by collecting all this data but again, we thank you!

Credit goes to Charlie for his diligent baiting campaign. I'll be breaking up the gift certs with Charlie as we wouldn't have had the success we expienced without him driving back and forth.

Brid my friend, I really feel bad about "your partner" failing to show, especially as I was one of the first people you called when you banked that mini lump. So here is the deal. I am hoping that you are willing to travel to Long Sault CCC. If you are willing to travel, Mrs. Zoomie and I would love to have you. She doesn't fish. We'll cover the cost of your stay and any gear rentals for stuff you can't get in a suitcase. Long Sault will get some additional business for being so generous in supporting the FFF. I need someone to fish with and I'd be honored if you would be willing to make the trek. We could even co-write an article about the trip. So how about it?

I enjoyed the FFF. I got a chance to put all that I learned this year to the test. I also found that I enjoy fishing in spite of nasty weather and being exhausted. The FFF really is a rite of passage, independent of any fiah being banked.
