Folks,

I kind of disappeared for 10 days because of a business trip to Prague, Czech republic. My wife accompanied me to visit one of the most beautiful old cities we have in Europe.

Here is a first picture of Prague buildings... Oh... There is an interesting river going through the city... <_<

We arrived on Sunday, I didn't have to work this day, so we visited a few monuments.

Here is what we found on the door of a cathedral! What is this local fish? cool.gif

So while I was going to my conference, my wife Edith decided to investigate a bit more and visited the museum of natural history. And she found the proof!

Edith continued to roam in the city and found a nice basin in the park of the Czech senate. She took a picture, heard a splash at the same time, and now watch closely on this picture. fish.gif

Coming back in the city, Edith met a rather stylicized and nightmarish ornament on the wall of a monastery... brrr... could this really be a carp? Maybe a "dracula carp"? ph34r.gif

Overall, I had no time to fish in Prague. But I did browse a bit the local litterature and carp fishing is big out there! Can't wait to come back for real vacations...

To finish, you're really wondering how to say "carp" in Czech, right? And what are the names of the other local fishes? Well, here is a nice plaque telling you all about the species to be found in this basin that I previously described. Now, if you know how to pronounce these names, tell me...

PS. Carassius is the latin name for crucian carp. Silurus is a giant catfish.

Nice pics Jerome.

Prague is indeed a beautiful city, I visited there about 17 years ago, and would love to go back and see if it has changed significantly.

Jerome -

That rocks!!! The picture with the jumping fish in it cracks me up.
Glad to hear you're having a good time traveling this summer.

Talk to you later,
Matthias
