No, this isn't a comment about the Cardinals... rolleyes.gif

This morning, I was fishing in Boston, on a very city-oriented spot (Charles/Muddy river), with a heavily loaded road (Storrow Drive for the locals) just behind me.

So I was quite surprised to see this big birdie land on a light pole right in front of me... This nice raptor was probably something like two feet high, it was quite imposing.

Now I will admit my total ignorance when it comes to raptors... What is it?

Looks like the famous peregrin falcon, there are many nesting right on the skyscrapers in Boston. We used to see them around the Hancock building...

Peregrin is probably the best bet but not if was two feet tall. Was it actually the size of a crow.

Matt,
Weve got plenty of red-tails here too (and they like squab), but the head/beak on Jerome bird isnt the right shape (or doesnt look it, but I could be wrong). If the bird was indeed 2' high, that would be roughly the right size for a red-tail though...

Yup, Peregrine. He probably looked a bit bigger than he really is cause of ruffling his feathers in the cold.
