We went family fishing today (very rare event!), and my son Valentin caught a... "thing"... which will not help at all to convince other anglers that carp is indeed a beautiful fish... I mean, look at this face! biggrin.gif

Make it a Frankencarp full-screen screen-saver, and I guarantee a smile on your face whenever your PC goes to sleep... tongue.gif

And while I'm at it, let me mention the fact that my wife Edith caught her PB today... A nice 9 pounder. Took her years to come with me, but she's now starting to enjoy it. Nice! smile.gif

My other son Alexis also caught one, but as to me, I caught nothing, zip. Dom was fishing with us, he took his own sweet time, but finally landed a brace of 10 pounders.

By the background it looks like the ice is gone from the Charles.

That Carp looks pretty grumpy. He's so dejected that he has to be put through the rigors of photography.

After Jerome left I caught one more fish, a 16lber. Fish were very lineshy for the charles. I think the pressure is getting to them.

Well, the left side of the bridge is still quite frozen, but the right part is completly unfrozen.

I had a better quality thermometer with me this time, and it's interesting... 42F close to the wall, 40F twenty yards out, 37F in the main (open) body of the river... So it seems that the water sewage outflow does bring fairly warm water, which largely explains why the carp congregate out there. Or somehow the sun warms this section of the wall in the morning, or a combination of both. The outflow of the muddy is on the left side, and is still frozen.

This being said, Dom caught his biggies while fishing much more far out...

Nice "ugly" fish.......! Perhaps this is why they are called "rough" fish.
The only thing that is missing from a fishes mug shot like that is the tag with the numbers !
