Yet another great event was held this past weekend as the Ohio CAG and GFO (GoFishOhio) crews met up for our 4th fish in of the season. Attending this past event were Dick L., Richie E., Sean (Miso_Ohio) Mark (Steelhead1), Mike (Carpless), Bill (HookLine&Sinker), and Angie (fisherlady7). If I have forgotten anyone, PLEASE let me know so I can make changes for our archive.

Fri night, Sean, Dick and Myself met up around 6:00 PM. After lugging our gear what seemed an eternity, we were to our spot and fishing by 7:15 or so. By 9:00PM, Mark found his way there and we were set in for the night. The first fish didn’t come until close to midnight, and fortunately found its way to my rod. It was a scrappy 4lbr. Other than a few small channels, this fish would be the last official “run” until about 4:30AM. We realized that it was truly “Christmas in July” with the weather. Whoever thought it would get around 50F w/a good breeze and heavy fog coming off of the water in July! Mark and Sean were set with sleeping bags. Fortunately I had an emergency blanket in my truck, so that came to some use.

Just after dozing off around 4:00 or so, my rod took a screaming run on a vanilla wheatie ball. After stumbling my way down the ledge to the water, disengaging my baitrunner, and pulling back on the rod, there was nothing there. Rebaited and waited.

At sunrise I landed another one, and waited some more. Mark landed a small one around 2lbs, and Miso_Ohio started his “slay of the day” around then with a scrappy 2 lbr. All in all he landed around 15 or so carp, with the biggest of the event at 11lb9oz. Somewhere in there I landed a few more and that was about it for the time I was there. After working 3rd shift Thursday night with no sleep and fishing clear through Saturday, I was beat, burned, and ready for some food! They decided to make a move on the lake since everyone that was planning on attending showed up. They moved to the Marina as I left. Miso_Ohio was nice enough to take notes, so the rest of the review is of his words.

Rchie (sp???) stayed put at that little hole he was fishing and ended up catching 17 carp, nothing over 10 Lbs but he caught a lot of them.

At the marina we all set up and I opened up a chum campaign on our area that I like to call "Shock and Awe" where I methodically placed all of that pack bait you gave me as well as an entire large can of corn into the water. Just like at the first spot we saw a lot of activity in the water after the chumming was done but the fish just were not biting or if they were they were not following threw. Dick caught a nice Full Scaled Mirror around 5 and I caught another common around 5. carpless and Hook left around 6 both blanked and Dick and I hung out to around 9 in which I caught another common that went around .5 which could of been used for bait.

I beleive Dick didn't go back for sunday, he said we was going to pack up the tent and head back home and get a shower and sleep in a bed. I don't blame him, we both pretty much agreed the chance that these carp would come out of thier slump would be pretty slim for Sunday morning. It might heppen when the front comes through but that wouldn't be to later in the day.

FisherLady7 (I think that is right) showed up with a friend and they fished for a few hours. I think they caught a few catfish, she has some great pictures of some fish, the one that really sticks out is one of a 10 lb largemouth with at first glance looks like a nich Wiper next to it. Nice bass you think until you notice that Wiper is a Crappie, WOW
