Good customer service!

In my haste to process an online order with Big Carp Tackle, my wife noticed that I left out the numbers on our shipping address. I tried to edit it but couldn't edit the order. I called BCT this morning and talked with Zach. He corrected the address and I just got an email that the order has been shipped. Looking at the invoice shows that the address has been corrected and I should get it in two or three days. I even have a link to track the order. Thanks, Zach! Now to catch some big carp!

Custom carp rods?

This is more of a question for or asking for comments from the general membership. I build custom fishing rods and feel that there is a potential market that is made up of veteran and beginner carpers across the US, Canada, and possibly Mexico. I have observed that many of the rods used are 7-9 ft. spinning rods. Also, there are a number that use casting rods. I would appreciate your input regarding my idea. I have been building custom rods for about 8 years, in case you are wondering. I have access to several vendors for both conventional blanks and components plus a couple for building Euro-style rods. I buy from all of the online carp stores, but had yet to buy from Carpkit. Recently I purchased a bunch of stuff and one of the buzzbars that I ordered came to me broken. I contacted Simon about the problem and he emailed me back and resolved the problem within minutes! I can say nothing but good things about Simon and my Carpkit experience. The broken buzzbar was no fault of his, and he went out of his way to resolve the problem.

Thanks Simon. He definitely earned my future business, and I wouldn't hesitate to order from him.

Sonik 6000 FS Reels - One Year Later

I purchased the Sonik 6000 reels on a promotional sale last year and have used them for 1 full season at this point. I thought I'd post my impressions of them after catching 140 carp on them this season.

I agree that the sales information posted on Carp Kit is accurate. Here it is again in case you need it:

These are sturdy reels. They look good and they produce as advertised. I have snagged hooks with them occasionally and jerked, yanked and ripped to free the snag and the reel did not falter. I even tightened down the drag once reeled until my hook bent with no obvious ill effects, although I don't recommend you do what I did.

I like the black finish on the reels and it has worn well with minimal scratches. The only reason there are any scratches at all is because occasionally I got a little excited and dropped the reels when unhooking fish.

I'd buy them again if I needed new reels. I think they are a good intermediate reel for people who are getting serious about catching lots of carp on a regular basis.

POOR SERVICE FROM CARP KIT

This fiasco started over a year ago. I bought a set of 4 Fox alarms from Simon, and later bought an additional alarm from BCT. After several months of use, one of the alarms stopped working. I contacted Fox and they told me to contact the seller. I emailed Simon and he told me to send him the alarm for repair. He told me he sent it to a "friend" to fix and sent it back to me. It was still not working, so I emailed him again about the problem. Since I did not send in the warranty card for the alarm I thought there might be a problem, but Simon said he would take care of it. That was a year ago and I still have not received the replacement alarm. Along the way, Simon told me to take the alarm to an electrician to have it fixed, because it is only made in china. The man is full of excuses! I have been calling him and emailing him for over a year(I have all of his email responses) and now he is not responding to my inquiries. He even had the nerve to tell me to contact him in the future! During the year, I contacted Fox and they told me that I didn't have to send in the warranty card, just show date and proof of purchase to receive the warranty. But with all of Simon's B.S., the alarm went out of warranty I told Simon of this and it still didn't get me a new alarm. In the interim, the alarm I bought from BCT went bad. I contacted Dave and he told me to send the alarm in to Fox with the receipt from BCT. I did this, and got a new alarm within 2 weeks. I SUGGEST THAT IF YOU PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM CARP KIT AND SIMON, YOU BETTER HOPE THAT YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE THE WARRANTY, BECAUSE CARP KIT CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS! Simon should have known that the warranty card was not needed to obtain service, but since his "friend" tried to fix the alarm, it probably voided the warranty. By the way I told Simon that I was going to contact CAG about this and have yet to hear from him. BUYER BEWARE WHEN DEALING WITH CARP KIT. In retrospect, I don't expect to see a new alarm from Simon. I am going to contact Fox about Carp Kit's poor customer service of their products. ON THE OTHER HAND, BIG CARP TACKLE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GREAT!

Very Pleased with the order I received earlier in the week from Carp Kit. I realize the boyz up there are " just doing their job" but my limited experience working with them was perfect. Everything I ordered was in stock and shipped quickly and well. Prices were very reasonable also. Unfortunately, with all this stinkin ice on the lakes and ponds, I have been limited to just "air-fishing" in my den. I think I have assembled and disassembled my new reel and rod on 3 different occasions since Monday just to look at it. Not to mention all the smelling and touching of my new Boilies, Pop Ups and Pellets. I need open water soon!!!

I ordered three new rods and reels from this dealer on the weekend.

They shipped them on Monday morning via Fedex and they arrived at my house in PA on Tuesday morning.

I still don't know how that was possible.

The order was very well packaged and everthing arrived in excellent condition.

Anthony Johnson at the shop was extremely helpful while taking the order over the phone as were his staff members to whom I spoke about a couple of other items I'm looking into.

Great service.

I would recommend this organisation if you're contemplating shipping any gear from the UK.

Nash Scope rod 10 ft 3.5 test curve. I would seriously reconsider if your thinking about purchasing one of these rods. The tip broke after a few short uses. I contacted the vendor I purchased the rod from about what happened. I sent them a picture and told them what had happened. They forwarded to Nash to find out how they could help me. They said it was on me. They also charge $200 for the replacement section plus $80 shipping. The whole rod cost roughly $300. Needless to say I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service at Nash. Any other company I've dealt with purchasing rods in that price range 100% back there products.

May I also let you know I've spent over a $1000 on nash products this winter. I would of stuck with my old gear if I knew this was how they treat there customers. Instead I wanted to "UP GRADE" to better gear.

Resistance Tackle Shipping Prices

Ive been out fo the game for a while, but wanted to post my experiences recently with Resistance Tackle. I have ordered from their and Wacker alot in the past, and both he and Paul were very fair IMO.

Upon getting back into fishing again, I was thrown off by the shipping prices quoted upon check out at Resistance (I understand there is a new owner?) It almost made me not order, but I really like the items I ordered, and needed them for the style of fishing I do, so I ordered anyway.

To make a long story short, both times, the owner (Dennis Moneypenny) refunded money to my paypal account making shipping much cheaper! He apparently shipped them flat rate?

Anyway, thank you Mr. Moneypenny! I will do business with you again!

A bit late on this, but I ordered a small boilie table/gun from them around November of last year, everything went smoothly and was immediately notified when they processed and shipped the order.

Shipping was quick, and I was surprised when I got a few copies of CAG magazine...this was way back when I was still a new carper (still am, but not as much now...) and it really lit the fire!

Big Carp Tackle does it again. I have been searching recently for a particular rod to match two already in my possession in order to complete the set. All my rods consist of matching pairs and I have been unsuccesful in obtaining that third rod until now.

Looking on the CAG site p.m. yesterday I saw that David from Big Carp Tackle was offering a free third rod (Saxon Hexalite) if you purchased two of the already discounted models. This was my opportunity to have a complete matching set. I immediately purchased two rods and they together with the free rod are being shipped today. Hats off to Big Carp Tackle. This is a golden opportunity for all CAG members, so don't delay..

Fins Up: Daiwa Customer Service

Finally managed to get out for the first time this year on the Quest for Carp, 2014. No sooner had I cast out with one rod to wet the line that upon the retrieve one of my Daiwa Sealine Black 4500 BRI Bite & Run reels made some cracking sounds and jammed. Once I dismantled it (bankside surgery at it's best) I noticed that the plastic line guard (a dome shaped contraption with slots) that fits under the aluminum spool had literally shattered. Down to a single reel I finished the rest of the couple of hour session and returned home to scour the web for a spare part.

First trip out of the season, not only did I blank, but I killed one of my reels !

On the Daiwa's website I was able to locate the detailed parts breakdown for the reel and part # I required. However I could not actually order the part as their order tool was having issues "finding" the part. So I fired off an email to Daiwa. I was expecting a reply in a few days with some crazy $$$ amount required to replace the part, if it was even available. My email wasn't even requesting a warranty repair, just an inquiry about the spare part availability and price.

This morning I had pleasant surprise in my email from Daiwa Customer Service. They are now sending me a replacement line guard, for free, which I should have it in a few days. Now that's great speedy service which exceeded my expectations.

I've worked for the past couple of decades in IT technical support and customer service. It is easy for us all to post our rants and raves when support and service fails to meet the customer needs. Just wanted to post a "Fins-Up" for Daiwa Customer Service - I was very pleased, and honestly, a little surprised !

I may now be on Daiwa's frequent service department customer list. In 2 years i've shattered 2 rods and now a reel -- perhaps I am just hard on equipment ? "Finney, for all equipment your Quality Testing Needs!".

I received my order from RT the other day and everything was great except for 1 little problem. I contacted them about the problem and they responded quickly. They handled my problem and were quite friendly and professional about it. I have never had any trouble in the past when ordering from RT and now I know if I do they will take care of it. Well done!
