  1. Good morning, Cannonball,

Thank you for the welcome! I inshore fishing as well. My inshore combo has been doing double duty for carp until I can get a more fitting setup. Its been a good while since I have trout fished, but really enjoyed it when I lived in the mountains. I spent six years of my childhood in Erwin, TN, and 7 years in Piney Flats, TN. I don't get back to TN nearly as much as I should, but it's a beautiful area. I would imagine right about now the fall leaves are putting on quite a show!

    Take care,

    Christopher

  2. Christian,

It is a pleasure make your acquaintance! I saw in an earlier comment that you were from Germany. My father's side of the family is from Dusseldorf and came to America in the early 1900's. I have never visited Germany, but would love to one day.

I will check out bigcarptackle.com as well as The American Carp Society. And I am definitely interested in meeting up! Feel free to private message me on here or to send me an email at erlermeyer@gmail.com.

Wishing you a good evening as well!

    Best regards,

    Christopher Erler Meyer

  3. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I live in Spartanburg and have been in the Upstate for 21 years. I was happy to find this group and became a member after seeing this particular thread.

After a decade or so break from fishing, I have recently gotten back into the sport after being goaded by my 8 year old son. It has been a wonderful way to spend the quarantine and has offered much peace during these crazy times. It has also been a great way to spend time with my family.

Although I am new to carp fishing, one of my earliest fishing memories was catching a carp on a kernal of corn in my great grandfather's farm in Virginia. Until recently, I have never targeted the species. After stumbling upon Youtube videos, I became fascinated with the fish and have enjoyed the DIY aspects of bait making.

I do not own a boat so the bank fishing aspect was also attractive to me. The difference in fishing styles between American and European anglers is fascinating to me. I hope to eventually explore hair rigs and boilies. Currently I am using a "paylake" style rig as the only other carp angler I know showed me the setup.

I look forward to browsing this forum and one day meeting up with some of you to fish or talk fishing! I could certainly use some tips.
