  1. Mark

Once again you seem to want to make this about personalities

I am telling you that if you present your argument in the correct way you will reap the rewards........... :o

I would just love to give you the example we are working on at the moment, and have been behind the scenes for sometime now, but unfortunately cannot run the risk of someone trying to throw a wrench in the works, :P so will wait until all the tee's are crossed and i's are dotted before letting the cat out of the bag!!!

But you can rest assured had we taken the same "Swimming upstream" attitude you espouse , we would be no further on than when we first started. :P

There is a lot to be said for the Presidents attitude of catching more bees with honey!!! :yourock:

  2. your swimming upstream why waste your time with the uninformed

Just not so Mark.....It is in the way you present your argument that wins or loses people

These guys NEVER change their minds - NEVER.

    Phone

They NEVER change their minds - - - NEVER

They do Phone, they do, it takes time, but present it in the correct way and you will change minds......

The best way to change minds is to be informed yourself, just trying to convince people without being informed correctly yourself will never work..........get yourself informed, show them that you are knowledgeable, and you would be amazed what can happen.....

Trust me I speak from experience here :yourock::o Trying to bash people over the head with tons of stuff regarding how good carp are is not the way, you put peoples backs up straight away......get informed, get facts, quote facts, show them that there is another side to the argument and back it up with facts and you will be surprised what can be achieved :P

  3. First, there is no such place as Spring Valley.

Second, you are making CAG/carpers look bad by breaking the law using motorized vehicles when stated none are allowed. I know you are used to breaking laws in CA but here in Texas we do things according to the law.

Third, if you cant carry your gear then maybe you should downsize instead of trying to change the rules to suit your needs. Everyone else had to lug their gear to the swim they were assigned so I can't see making special rules for certain people. If you can't manage your gear then maybe you should find another tournament to enter.

    Scott :rolleyes::yourock:

Got to be candidate for post of the year so far!! :o:P:P

  4. What do you expect, You run CAG down for years and now you cry foul when the shoe is on the other foot. :yourock::o

    Mickey

Your post really shows that you are so out of the loop where the magazine is involved!!!

I have nothing to do with the publication of the magazine, in any way shape or form......Despite what some will have you believe!!! :P

As for crying :P:P ............You have that wrong too, I love the fact that some of you guys bash it, it illuminates the fact that some of you are not truly about promoting the sport!!!

And me highlighting it makes it so easy for others to see it too. So please continue, with your words of wisdom.

Karl - (uscarppromagazine contributor and sponsor)

P.S. And before you preach about me and CAG you should realize I guarantee that I have done more to promote CAG in the past than you have or will ever do!!! :P

  5. It is quite amusing to see this UK v US perspective from some, are you guys too good to learn something just because it comes from a guy based in Germany, France or the UK?? :P

I ain't too good to learn from anyone, no matter where they are in the world, and if they want to write for a US based magazine, I say more power to them and thanks for trying to educate those of us in the US who are not to proud to learn from an outside source.

The US originated articles are coming, like everything things take time (Surely CAG members can relate to that! :P ), hopefully some of the US based guys reading this will see the real meaning behind some of the posts and decide to contribute rather than join the few knockers!!! :P:P

Or are there other reasons you few love to bash on it??:yourock::o

  6. Kev

    Nice vid.

Dave Smith (Smifster) and I witnessed the same thing in Idaho at Blackfoot res, the surface was alive with fish in front of both of us, directly above where we had baited, the rest of the lake around us was flat calm with no signs of fish. Dave got some good video footage of it too.

There was what seemed like hundreds of backs and lips sticking out of the water for about one hour, then they got their heads down. It was cool as it gave us chance to get a bit of breakfast down us.

    K :yourock:

  7. Doc,

Do you still do the official odds for the ATC?

It is very likely I will be going this year to defend MY ATC championship (Noddy didn't do chit). I believe this will be the 10th anniversary(?). My partner is iffy so just show me having some little Mexican kid for a partner.

    Phone

    Wow!!

Good to see you back Phone, I was only just posting on another forum about how I missed your posts.

Glad to see you are still around

    Karl

Glad you are enjoying it! :yourock:

  9. A nice article about fellow LSCB'er Jason Johanason and his Texas Buffalo Adventures service. Plus another Texas winning "in the spotlight" . I wonder if we can 3 peat the "in the spotlight" for next month?

    Scott

Keep catching those big carp over there and I am sure you could well get yourselves a 3peat!

Some of you Texans are on fire this winter.....Great to see. :o

Check it out by clicking HERE , click on the magazine cover to read the whole thing!!!

    It's a belter!!! :yourock:

  10. Any idea what the price for the required insurances will be?

I understand from a contestant that fished it last year, that insurance for the provided boat is a must have, plus liability insurance.

I wouldn't know where to look for boat insurance to cover me in France

  11. Hi ukcarper, back in the day I used to fish Bestwood "duckies",Attenborough, Sapphire Lakes,Gunthorpe waters etc.

    Then through the '90's,More Newark area,namely Bowers ,A1Pits,Trent at Muskham,also Fiskerton(Barbel). I also fished

Swarkestone pit near Derby, and some more club lakes, before taking my fishing more down South. That is a fantastic Barbel that your mate caught, truly huge for the Trent! The biggest I ever had was an 11.02 from Fisko. I too miss the old Waters, especially now some of the Fish are getting really big,but I also find it an exciting prospect to fish for some "Unknowns" here in the States. There are some nice ,big uns here,it's just a challenge to find them, and I plan to enjoy the trip! Tight lines.. Oh yeah...and I can see why you don't miss that drive from Notts to Hull...sounds like real fun!! lol. cheers.

I know the Swarkstone pit well, and the river aroundthere too, we used to lodge in Castle Donnington at a fisherman friendly B&B and spend time in the area, Barrow bomb holes, The Doctors Surgery stretch, the T&M at Shardlow and Acre Lane all spring to mind.

A1 Pits...........That's it!!! I would never have remembered that. B)

Fished Fiskerton a lot back before the days Barnsley owned it, I remember them first getting the lease on that place it made national headlines in the newspapers, due to it being the most expensive stretch of river anywhere in England at the time...Roach and chub heaven!!

Used to night fish the weir a lot too, back when the old concrete bridge support was still in the water there, hge nets of chub to be had back then. The other side of the island at Fiskerton weir was unbelievable to, we used ot have a few matches on the upstream stretch where you were ferried across in a little old wooden boat to fish it, peg 7 was the flier!!!! B)

Good luck with your pioneering here in the US, it is a different kettle of fish.

Thanks for a few good memories! B)

  12. Hi Brid,I'm from Nottingham originally, and I have lived over here for 7 years now. After a bit of "shadow chasing" I've now found some waters to get back into some real Carping! Have a good one mate.

    [/quote

So what waters did you fish back home in the Nottingham area?

I virtually lived on the Trent back in the 80's, loved it with a passion. Loved the Embankment, and Long Higgin. Miss it dearly, just had a mate over here from back home, he still fishes the Trent every week, he has had some really good carp out, but his new passion (I say new but he has probably been targetting them now for 10+ years on there) is barbel, he had one out this year at 15lb 6oz, a truly huge barbel by Trent standards.

I fished a few stillwaters and canals in the Nottingham area too, spent tons of weekends at Walter Bowers place fishing for those huge stillwater chub he had in there. Add in those lakes at Winthorpe/Crankley Point (I forget the name now) where we fished for days on end without a fish B)

Oh and just as an afterthought, my youngest lad who is now 25 was on Notts Forest's books before we moved over here, I made that drive to nottingham from Hull 3 times a week for his training!!! B)B)B) Certainly don't miss that!!

  13. Thanks for stopping by guys and thanks John for the plug!

    Happy New Year everyone!!

See you all with ISSUE 5 in January 2009
