  1. Phone I did see your reply to Chris, I just thought it was pants that's all. I wasn't particularly picking you Phone, it's just I saw that one or two other mods were reading the thread at the time I was posting and noticed that they had ignored the questions, I knew you couldn't resist. 700 spams????????? You need some good software like Chris and I have!!! So Chris can post prices everywhere else except in the Commercial Section? (Where people actually come to find out about products!! ) Whatever you say!!! Karl (Absolutely baffled by this one!!) Oh you're right about Chris
  2. Chris But in all seriousness, Chris brings up a very valid point!!! He has no commercial interest in any of the guys who advertise in the NACA, he pays for all of his equipment and bait (well except for the stuff he nicks off me!! ). So is it wrong for him to post prices of stuff he has seen elsewhere. He has no interest other than passing on good news!! Would this whole thread be here at all if Chris had posted that there was a deal on the Royal site, or if he had posted that he had seen a great offer on Pauls, or BillD or Specialists site??? I am interested as to the 'official' opinion on this................................Phone where are you????? Karl
  3. All I have a suggestion for the powers that be, (I can make these now being as I am a CAG member, without some telling non members to mind their own business! ) How about a instructional piece on how to post links to other sites where both newcomers, (the ones we are supposed to be attracting) and established forum members can find out where tackle is available. Either that or just let people post the prices of items they have either seen elsewhere, or know about directly on here. It seems pretty stupid for the Commercial section to be the only place you are not allowed to stick the prices up. The tackle section, bait section, etc, have several examples of members posting prices of newly obtained gear, but strangely links have not been allowed in these sections????? Not COMPLAINING, just asking and suggesting Karl
  4. So I'll ask again, would Keith have received the same e-mail had he posted in say the beginners section? Pat I posted that Carol has a couple of these low priced rods, I used them when she had a screaming run (she was at the restroom), I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to ANYONE, but there again I would and have recommended the Predetors to many.!! It's just my humble opinion, plus I don't feel as though I have to use top notch gear to catch! Keith Now that pod looks like a real deal! Karl
  5. Yes but Mark, There is blatent advertising ALL OVER the site, by many people including moderators, it's in peoples signatures, in the main text of threads, why should this place be any different?? <_< <_< Would there have been the same reaction had Keith posted this in say the beginners section?? If not, why not? For someone to point this out in an e-mail to Keith is the bit I think is a hoot!!! Karl
  6. Mark At last something we agree on!! Rules is rules???? Yep you are right! Karl P.S. That new sherriff Phone is harmless, I'll just push Carol in front of me when I meet him again, he's a real softy where the women are involved!
  7. Phone, Mark, in fact everyone What does it matter if prices are mentioned? Why the big deal? Surely the people that benefit from all of this are the carp anglers, the very ones this forum is here for. Hell as far as I am concerned, Paul, Alex, The ACS boys, BillD and anybody else who I have failed to mention who contributes to the NACA can post prices on here if they think they will be competative. It is in the potential buyers interest to have prices, (it saves them having to hit another link!! ). As for the double standards thing,............................... enough said! It's great that we as carpers are getting so many different suppliers of gear. Phone I couldn't agree more with your idiot comment!! Karl
  8. See I told you guys to expect some surprises. Carol has 2 of the rods (I posted elsewhere about them), and they are pretty damn good. Just shows that not everybody has to charge top dollar, to get some body started up in the carp game
  9. Yep That is exactly what he said to me when I asked him if he intended to market them yet!! Too pricey for a young market!! Karl
  10. Payara Speak to Alex reference the A.Peche gear. I did, he has a supply of goods from them, they are just not on the site. I met the A.P guy a while ago, real nice guy, a good friend of Alex's I believe. Karl
  11. Keith: The Royal site looks to be offering a bunch of really low priced goods. Each of the items (rod, reel, alarm, pod are $40-$50 range)... Not yet any quality items that the connoisseurs of fine carp tackle would be interested in. Fran Seems to me I remember one of the biggest things we were supposed to be all about was getting more people into our sport. I may be wrong!! You ain't gunna' do that if you have to lump up upwards of a grand to get you going with 'tarty' gear. There is a definate opening in the market for the lower end of the price range. Seems as though we already have a few places to get the 'tarty' gear from already. I think (well I would, wouldn't I?) Alex is definately on the right road aiming to bring a lower priced selection of gear to the States, as well as the Top Quality bait he has brought as well!! I can recommend the rods to anybody out there, Carol has a pair and they are as good at playing fish as the Fox ones I use. They have quite a bit of back bone to them too, I had an 18lb'er on them a couple of weeks ago that was determined to get to a newly submerged fallen tree, I locked down on the reel and heaved, the rod doubled over and I was able to muscle that baby out of there!! Check the reels out too, well priced I do believe!! Karl
  12. Thanks for the kind words guys Karl
  13. Raymie Yeah that has ALWAYS been my attitude, I have seen peolpe killed before and have gotten over it pretty quickly. (Northern Ireland, South Africa to name a couple of places) This one was just different somehow, maybe I am just getting a bit softer in my old age!! This has really 'effed' me up though, I just cannot get the whole scene out of my head. I know it will fade with time, but at the moment it is still a vivid picture in my mind! Karl
  14. As one of the guys who got into it last night, I must add that I failed to actually comment on the actual thread topic, which was I think the ACS website. I looked at the whole site a couple of days ago, and was impressed, it is a well laid out, easy to navigate site. The three amigos have done a good job. Back to last night. I realise now with hindsight that the post I made directed at a CAG member should not have been made on the forum, it was a bad day for me yesterday................ I had the horrible misfortune of seeing a young woman die right in front of me, after being ejected through the front windscreen of the car she was driving, her car was struck by a stolen vehicle that was blowing through a red light at approximately 75 mph in the middle of a city. I was the first guy on the scene, and didn't even realise that the lady had been ejected, I was too busy getting as many people out of wrecked cars before they blew up. I actually spoke with her about 5 mins before she passed away. She was a mother of three youngsters. The ###### driving the stolen vehicle was on parole for car thefts, he only sustained a broken leg and some cuts to the head. I hope this ###### rots in jail! I just wish I had known that he was driving a stolen car when I first got to the scene. I again apologise to the group for my post to one guy, I should have made my comments to him in a PM, (which I have since done!) I'd had a really $hitty day!!!! Days like yesterday make you realise that there is a whole more to life than ******** carp fishing forums! Karl
  15. Tommy The guys name is Jan, real nice knowledgable guy, been in the boilie making business for about 15 years if my memory serves me right. Carpfood is the name, I got to see some photos of Jaaps boilie making factory, it is huge!!! They have the ability to turn out 3000kgs of bait a day (Again if memory serves me right.), they currently produce about 1500kg a day. They actually manufacture boilies for a load of the European tackle and bait dealers. I have some samples of all kinds of different boilies, and boilie pellets, just can't wait to get out and try 'em. I'll post a photo of some of them when I get time, they are worth seeing. Karl
  16. Just got back from the ICAST show in Las Vegas, where I met up with Alex and Jaap, they have got some neat things in the pipeline. There was a great deal of interest shown by the 'trade' in the RoyalCarp show booth, I even got roped into some explanations about carp fishing to a few guys. All in all a very sucessful week for Alex I think! Keep checking out the RoyalCarp.com website, as there will be some really good products and some surprises coming soon. Karl
  17. Mark Isn't this the same kind of mentality that people used to have about Wolves and Buffalo?????? When do you start worrying???? Not having a pop, just my 2 cents!! Karl
  18. Wow Not only no links for the Royal Site! But not able to use the PM facility as well??????? (The other one has bells on!!!) Karl
  19. I don't want to enter this discussion and this post has nothing to do with the anything Bill H posted. However I did want to comment on this line. This is exactly the sort of moderating that the forum has been lacking of late. Moderatores have taken a lot of stick lately, so I wanted to give some praise to a moderator that has got it right. A calm explanation of why something was removed! Good stuff... RickyB Ditto!!!! Karl
  20. I have to say that up to now, I have no complaints whatsoever regarding Royal Baits. Everything I was told would happen has happened, in return I have done what I was asked to do. The issue of getting entries into top level carp competitions has not been an issue as there haven't been any!!! As for the company being a total rip-off, in my personal experience this is not true. It would be interesting to find out off anybody who has purchased from Alex, if they consider they have been ripped off. I also thought that Alex provided a hell of a lot of prizes at both the CCC , this years ATC, and this years CAGI surely not the actions of a company out to rip you off. It is always very difficult being a "sponsored" angler, people often expect more from the deal than is actually available. (Been there and done that in the UK, and have all the clothing still to prove it!! ). I spent several hours talking to Alex in Texas, and he was quite clear in his requirements from team members. But at the end of the day guys, don't let YOUR decisions be made by a guy that is clearly upset because things didn't pan-out as he envisaged. Try the bait, then if you feel that you have been ripped off, vote with your feet and don't buy it again. All I can definately tell you is that Royal Bait has been responsible for the capture of a lot of big fish in Southern California and Texas this year. Karl
  21. Guys I agree that the Scopex boilies do not smell like Rods Scopex, but I did have the mis fortune of spilling the Royal baits Scopex bait dip (which smells the same as the boilies) all down my arm a month or so ago (baiting needle propped up in the dip pot!!) Anyway within a couple of mins my t-shirt arm was soaked in it, after 20 mins or so it was smelling just the same as Rods Scopex. I did an experiment when fishing with Chris, where I poured a small amount of it on a rag and left it for a while, Chris confirmed that it did indeed smell like the original. Try it you may be surprised. I know the boilies definately work. Karl
  22. Nice post GF Great service Paul!!! Karl
  23. Dean All I can tell you mate is ........They definately didn't do any harm!!! They are the real deal, they look right, they breakdown well, smell right. There is also a fish flavoured pellet as well, I used this mixed with the corn pellets covered in the sweetcorn bait dip. (Thanks Keith!!) I'll let you take a "good look" on the weekend of the 17th!!! Karl
  24. Ricky Let me know the details of your buzz bars, I may be interested!! Karl
