It would be nice to see a scientific study that proves that unboiled maize is detrimental to carp health. I was under the impression that the crusher teeth deep in a carp's throat could deal effectively with hard food items. Bernie Haines, fishing and guiding on the St Lawrence, used to chum copious amounts of soaked, but not boiled, maize; I was witness to that and Bernie didn't seem to be bothered at all by chumming unboiled maize.

I'm not sure about "unprecedented". The Swine Flu impact was pretty severe:
"Dec. 10, 2009 - H1N1 swine flu killed 10,000 Americans, sent 213,000 to the hospital, and sickened 50 million -- a sixth of the population -- by mid-November, the CDC estimates."

If you guys don't mind me asking, how far from the bank were you guys putting baits? It seems to stay relatively shallow for a good ways.
My recollection is that I was fishing about 35-50 yards from shore. My terminal tackle didn't take long to hit bottom.

I am trying to identify this yellow 13 inch carp. Having trouble posting a picture.Could it be because I am using the new iPhone promax 11 in the picture is way bigger than this site will handle.
I find that reducing the max dimension to 600 pixels will allow the photo to be accepted by the site.

I recently started fishing a local lake that has decent carp fishing. I’m wondering what feed/chum whatever the proper term is that I can use to consistently throw into my fishing spot on a regular basis to start to get more fish to hang out in the area? I am on a budget so something relatively cheap/ effective/ high volume would be great.
I find field corn (soaked in pond water for 24 hours) to be effective and inexpensive, $12.49 for 50 lb of whole corn at Tractor Supply.

What result came of this policy proposal?
BTW, the above links no longer work.

When I first started using pack, I used soy pack a lot. It does work. I find it more convenient to put any flavor into the corn can while it holds about half of the cream corn, stir it up and then dump it all into the mix.
