  1. peters lake park is the main place i fish....ive seen numerous 30+ pahnders....i know there in there....any advice what to use to chum and fish?

you can't go wrong with sweetcorn - right from the can. This is expensive though, if you're gonna bait up a lot.

Try Range Cubes (get these at Tractor Supply Co.) and fish sweetcorn on the hook. Most carp in Peters have never been caught/seen a hook.

I've carp fished there quite a few times (none recently) tried off of the dam breast twice (blanked both times - and hated hauling my gear that far) and then fished right at the end of the parking lot near the "launch" and the 1st back bay off to the right. Never managed anything much over 10lbs. if even that for a top end fish.

Some old timers out there walking told me of monsters being in there, but I've never seen them.

It's a nice lake for crappies - there are some real slabs in there. I've done ok on smallies there as well - nothing big, but some days you catch a bunch.

Maybe this is worth a May visit for me, as I have not carped this lake in two + years..........

  2. peters township...bout 15 miles outside of downtown pittsburgh

Then you are familiar with the cesspool they call Canonsburg Lake! - loaded with carp, but nothing of real size. If you fish below the dam, toss out some sweet corn and hang on. It's possible to catch 20 in an hour on a good day. Problem is, they are small.

Peterswood Park Lake is "reported" to hold monsters. But I have never seen anything much over 10lbs come out of there.

Boone Reservoir (you need a permit form Lindenwood Golf Course to fish here - last time I bought one, they were ten bucks/year) - also "reported" to hold monsters - but again, I have only seen fish to about 10lbs or so come out of there.

Biggest fish I ever saw in the area was @17 -18 lbs (it was probably 20 yrs ago) it came out of Chartiers Creek, up above the pump station where the creek crosses under rt 19. My buddy caught it on a nightcrawler. Never saw anything that even approached that weight since then.

I'm still in trout fishing mode - but will get out to do some carping later on in May - I'll post on here when/where I decide to open up the season..............

Are any of these waters those that you mentioned in your first post??? If so, then you have done well fishing them!

  3. Nice fish Reeder. Have any luck carping in the Juniata?

Does the fire station still run their tournament?

A few years back I landed some nice "teen" fish @ Mexico............

EDIT: never mind Reeder, I got confused. Mexico is near Mifflintown and Lewistown on the Juniata. it wasn't until I read your other post (re: carp on the Susqy) that I realized you were near Mifflinburg and Lewisburg (they are 4 different towns). Your mind starts to go after 40..........

  4. Here is a portion of the original photo, as posted, enlarged 500%.

I don't claim to be an expert, but I see no obvious signs that it has been altered.

How about the white outline going around the front of the carp? That same line is conspicuosly absent from the other subjects in the photo.

I would also be interested in knowing if the guy in the pulled up socks has had any fingers (re: left hand, pointer) that were cut off by a lawn mower blade.

I remain skeptical of this one.............

  5. Trying to get attention/sympathy by misleading others and taking advantage of people is just incomprehensible to me, and it suggests that this young man has some serious psychological issues to sort out. There must be a reason for that, maybe a lack of attention on the part of his family, but he's old enough and competant enough to look for help - sincerely. I get the feeling that this will come to nothing, though.

    Well said!!

the boy obviously has some issues, which is sad, but it does not give him the right to take advantage of others. He needed this little "kick in the rear" to perhaps right himself. He's young, so yes, he's gonna make mistakes. But part of growing up is realizing that you did make mistakes and then trying to atone for those mistakes.

If you choose not to atone for them, then you must suffer the consequences.

Hopefully for Jake or Bob or Ezekiel (whatever his real name is) - this will turn out to be a "good lesson learned". If not, then I wish him luck in life as he is going to get far worse treatment out there than he did in here.

Where is Kyle Kipka??????????? he never lied. (or did he!) :D

  6. ok all your guys posts completely changed my mind! i was about to make an apologization post. but not any more!

how the heck can you determine age of the photo by shoes!

AND MY NAME IS JAKE! JAKE DIDIER!

The look and style of that shoe was not widely available or popular back in the 70's & 80's - (the picture looks old) - but apparently is not judging by the shoe style.

If the kid was wearing a pair of Nike canvas hightops with multi colored, untied shoestrings - the evidence would support the "old photo" theory.

Likewise, if he was wearing a pair of saddle shoes, one could deduce that perhaps the picture was taken in the 1930's....

That, Jake, is how you can determine the age of the photo by shoes!

  8. Give the kid a break............You going to give him a hard time for ever on here. :D :D

Anyway he does say that it was caught last summer........

There are far bigger lies told on here by those who really should know better :D

    1. no, just long enough to get him to quit posting lies.

    B. true (see shoe type gauge from my previous post)

    3. that's for sure, but I doubt anybody else made up a story about how they nearly died in an accident!

    fish stories are one thing........

  9. I hate to say it, but the picture does look old

Using the type shoes the kid is wearing as a gauge of photo age, it could be a recent photo.

The question is, where did it come from and who (in relation to Bob) is actually in the photo.
