  1. For all of you that have been around here for awhile, you will remember Scott Osmond. Here is an American Carp Society interview with him that you will find interesting. http://podcast.americancarpsociety.com/828574/5198350-the-american-carper-episode-7-the-scott-osmond-interview-with-sean-manning
  2. Here are the names and stories of the fishermen who "started" our sport, and added to it through the years. Most of you will recognize many of them. https://carpworldmagazine.com/carp-fishing-hall-of-fame
  3. Cannonball is right on a couple of counts here. "People don't deliberately fish for carp" is right, that is, until they watch you land one. Then they'll nonchalantly come on over and ask you what you're using for bait. And say something like "Jeese, that is big and it really put up a fight"! I think it's fun to set up close enough to other fishermen not to encroach on their space (especially if there are kids fishing) and hopefully catch a carp. You can bet every eye will be on you by the time it's time to net the fish. That's the way to start a trend. I find most people will politely listen about carp fishing, but will never try it on their own. They inherently "hate" carp from years of listening to sportsmen. But let them watch you catch one and they are all ears on how they can do it themselves. <:///><

  5. That's a great picture of intense anticipation Smiff. Green leaves, no wind, and obviously nice and warm! <:///><
  6. This week started by changing the clocks. Has a full moon. And ends with Friday the 13th. So don't forget to wash your hands.
  7. I'm onboard with this 100%. In fact I have practiced social distancing in my fishing, to one degree or another, for years. It tends to help keep my favorite spots open, keeps trash out of my favorite spots, and now it will contribute to my health and well being. Stay healthy my friends, and stop buying all the toilet paper.
  8. I'll second that! This is interesting. I gave boilies a fair try years ago and in addition to finding them a nuisance to make or expensive to buy, I caught few fish on them. So I've stuck with my dough baits and corn and done well. Mario's article is rekindling my interest in boilies and I will give them another shot come spring. <:///><
  9. Mario's 'boilie calculator' is listed by SoCalCarper, in Carp Baits. The thread is 'boilie calculator, by John Slayton, 8/22/16. Hope this is what you are looking for.
  10. Are there carp in Puerto Rico?
  11. Here's wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. <:///><
  12. We can help with this, and it would certainly be our best interest, by taking ten minutes and writing a letter. Especially all you New York people. <:///>< Carp Fishing New York October 24 at 7:44 AM · To all anglers that have noticed a decline in carp or the size of the carp in The Seneca River due to either tanking, bow fishing or over fishing (and not releasing) Assemblyman Barclay is asking you to please write a letter to his office so he can present it to the DEC. The DEC are pushing back on having a creel limit on carp in trophy waters in NYS and if we can get as many letters as possible written, Will Barclay's office is hoping this will help. This is what they said. "If you and any anglers would like to write letters, you can send them to our office. Will can share sentiments from those in further discussions. Tell them Personal accounts go a long way." The address is Assemblyman Will Barclay 200 North Second St. Fulton NY 13069 Once you write the letter, can you please post 'Done' in the comments below so we know a letter has been sent? And please share with your friends. Thank you!!!!
