  1. Today I was out fishing with a friend of mine here in Georgia. We were having a lot of runs and catching some carp. We fish near a dam that opens up from time to time and the water starts flowing. This flowing water causes my baitrunner reels to start pulling line and my bite alarms go off. I tighten my baitrunner reels down some so my line would not come off to easily. I was standing there rigging up my other rod when I get a run. The horror is that my tripod gets pulled over and my new Shimano Baitrunner reel and new St. Croix Wild River rod get launched into the water. I run to my rod and it is gone!! I am in shock. I tighten my baitrunner reel down to much and the fish just pulled everything over. I am standing there and I can't go in the water ( It was 30 degrees out) so maybe I can try and hook my rod with my other one. I am not to confident in this task, but I need to try something. I start throwing our a lead with a hook on it. I have not idea where my rod my be and I am on a big lake. After what seemed like an eternity (actually 10 minutes) I got snagged on something. I pull and I feel I have a big stick on. As I reel in I see my rod handle!!! My hook caught the reel handle and I was dragging my rod in. I proceed to grab my rod and I am so happy that I got my rod back. I start reeling in my line on my water logged rod and I still have the fish on!! I end up playing the fish and landing a small 10 lb carp. My horror story ended up having a nice silver lining! I also learned a lesson about tightening my baitrunners. Never again will I do that!
