  1. So when are our state chairs going to organize some Fish-Ins?

When the temps drop enough and we can sort out a few places to get the most anglers out on the bank for a good time Keith.

As you know with the water temps the bite hasn't really been there. With summer coming to an end it shouldn't be too long hopefully.

  2. With the temps and humidity here we take to night fishing for the most part.As most know there's not always a lot of places that allow night sessions.

That's where part of the issue is.However a few things will be put together and we'll see what happens.

  3. Not many days go like this one.Had a blast despite the lack of sleep. We had the usual comments and question throughout the day.

"Did you catch that here?"...lol.But I think the best of the day came from some gal out on the lake.Guess you knw you have a good fish when you hear.

"HOLY F*&%,that's a huge fish!...lol.That's the first I've ever heard that while out fishing, but I got a kick out of it.

Hope we can have more sessions like this in the future.

  4. If there are any members willing to do a write up for this years past ATC please get in touch with Mario Kok.

I would do it myself, however I'm not much of a writter. If you fished it and are good at writing stories please help out.

This is for something new for members.

    Thank you in advance.

  5. Well the fish in I had set up turned out to be quite adventurous to say the least.

At 2:45 am my alarm sunds off letting me know it's fishing time.I get a few things together and head out the door to pick up Steve.

I get there just before 3:30 and we get his gear loaded up and off we go towards Waco.

Arriving at the Brazos by 5:35 we start looking around to see what the situiation looks like for the fish in.

    Flooded with strong current :bonk:

I get on the phone to let Mike know about the river being unfishable unless we use a car jack for a lead.

He says he's going to come up anway with August and Christian to check it out.

Mean while Chris and Ben show up and we bs a little waiting for Mike and the others to show up.

About 7:00 they show up and we have a discussion on where to try next.

Waco Lake ends up being the secondary choice to move things too.

Chris and Ben head on out while I lead Mike and the others to a gas station before going to the new swim.

After a few wrong directions (thank you gps unit) we all finally meet up at the lake.

This is when we find out the reason for the river being flooded. The new swim is flooded out as well at 8 foot above normal level.

Turns out they had opened the dam gates on both Waco in Whitney to control the lake levels.

We won't be fishing the Brazos for a while now.

After yet one more decision making session.Look out Stillhouse Hollow, here we come.

A little over an hour later we finally arrive to a lake that is 5 foot or more below normal.

The bank is a little muddy caking on our shoes and Chris's wheel chair as well.

We finally get set up with Mike,August and Christian just around the other side of the I guess cove..lol

After a little while of lines in water with one catfish on the bank a bass boat slides into the cove.

We asked what the depth was in the section we had out lines in.Turn out we're fishing in 4 foot of water about 30 to 40 yards out.

With that and sitting in the sun there's talks of calling it a day.

I go over and let Mike and the others know what might take place. At this point in just around 12:00 now.

I head back to the others and decide to stick it out a bit longer.Been has a few more cats on the bank and they all look a tad crisp from the sun....lol.

Just before 2:00 we pack up and head out after deciding we're now headed to D/FW to hit a spot up.

Mike,August, and Christian say they'll be staying til about 4:00 then be heading home.

On the way we stop for gas and a bite to eat back in Waco before we hit Ft.Worth.

Finally at just after 5:30 pm now we are at the final swim of the day.We have some shade trees around to keep the sun off us and a slight breeze blowing. Not even waiting for all of us to be set up Ben has a fish on without even 5 minutes in the water.

This is a good sign for us after all the drive time put in for the day.I didn't keep trak of the time too well at this point to be honest.

Ben caught several commons in the mid to high teen range.Steve had a nice 18 lb common, and I had a decent common that I don't really count. The reason being is that the hook was outside the mouth and just a little more than an inch away from the mouth.

And Chris had a nice 17.12 lb common along with the best fish of the day. It's not his pb,but Chris managed his second 30 of his carping years weighing in at 30.4 lbs

Now that all that said and knowing

  6. I lived in Sagnasty a few years back and saw some nice sized commons from the bridges there. They looked to be in the 30 plus range. It was a shame I wasn't in the position to fish for them when there.

  7. When 03/24/12

Where Brazos River GPS Coordinates 31.563291,-97.128958

    Start Time 7:00 am

This will be an all day event with a chance to catch commons, mirrors and buffs.

There are bathrooms at the meeting location for those of you that care to know.

It will be an all day event so please come prepared.

Try to bring someone new to carping if possible.

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you need or want to before the event.

This will be a social fish in so don't worry about competition unless you would like to do a side pot.

If you can make it please make a post and let me know.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate with this time and location.

  8. After next weekend I will be setting up a fish in.I'll be going to White Rock for the WCC tourney on the 17th.If I know how far members from the Austin area will be willing to travel that will help a lot.I would've set one up for this weekend, however the rain percentage is too high for this weekend.

  9. To all that had a hand in putting this years tournament together, and those that participated THANK YOU.

It was a pleasure to meet those I haven't met before. For those that came from out of state I hope to see you in Texas again at some point.I hope everyone took something good away from this years ATC in one way or another.

To those that took part in the auction, thank you for helping to support CAG in this way as well.

I'll be looking forward to next years ATC and hope to see the same or better turn out.

    Great Job Everyone :yourock:

  10. Well the car's all packed and everything's ready to go.I'll get off work at 1:30 hit the bank and begin the 3.50 hour trip down to Austin.Hopefully I'll make it there in that time, but I'm expecting to hit Austin rush hour and maybe some other traffic.Looking forward to seeing everyone there this year.

The weather's saying there's a chance of rain tomorrow from 4 pm to 9 pm,so we'll see what happens with that.

See y'all when I get there.

  11. It's sure to be a fun and great event for all catch or not.Although I hope everyone catches something, even the YANKEES that are coming to visit.\

And just remember all the yankees coming will be helping clean up Texas. After all when it's said and done they'll be leaving the state,so do your part and help a yankee pack up for the trip home....lol

All kidding aside I'll be glad to meet everyone I haven't yet and see the ones I haven't seen in a while.

Looking forward to this and it's about time it's here.Hope everyone coming from out of state has a enjoyable and safe trip down here.
