Good job Neil. That must be your swim since the last time there you were and the only one to catch as well.
-
Chris Munn on TFF has done the tagging. He can provide the information Willem.I actually caught one of his tagged commons a while back.

For you newbies and out of towners, Lonestar's fish is not from town.
Zach's not one to lie about fishing. He's been around longer than you have.Just ask around and you'll find out. He's taught quite a few a lot about carping.

We did see a koi come to the surface for a second. But I think it saw Neil and spread the word not to take his bait....lol

That's a true showing of how well you're bringing your son up Willem. This is going to stick in his mind as he grows and he'll recall on it when he has his own family.
Now if you can convince the Scouts into having the derby in Austin you'll both be set.....lol.
Keep up the good work with him.

That's exactly what I'm saying Neil.Until the deed is sealed it ain't done

Very well put as always. And the pics are great as well.

I hear there just might be another Texas team registering before too long.

Nice write up and pics.Congrats on the birthday week 30.Thanks for sharing.

If it ends up in Weatherford Carl that will be because I take it to work, showing it off...lol.

I put up a post asking about spots that everyone prefers.Still waiting to get some responses to put fishins together.
-
Very nice guys.Might have to get Neil out to that spot so he can finally catch a koi.Did you use euro gear or old school it?
-
You could try range cubes or calf mana.If you bait up heavy once, just bait a little every so often afterward. You want to keep them in the area, not filling up.
I've never done a boilie campaign due to the cost.I know that's what they do in the UK,and they bait tons of boilies in.The maize will work good as well, just don't let tem fill up as I said.If you fish using method, you can also chum a little of that out as well.
I'm sure somone will chime in that knows more about it than I do.Hopefully what I've said will help a little at least.

Good deal, maybe this will clear it up for anyone wondering about it,that's fishing it.

I just went through it and saw that anglers are only allowed 2 rods per angler. The State actually allows 3 rods unless in a community park pond.
I'm guessing that rule is just set up for the state where WCC began.

Well done Joe! they're some beauties!
What are the water temps at that swim?
I can't say for sure what the water temp was,but I'm guessing it was in the 50's by the way my hands felt after rinsing...lol
Thanks for the comments y'all

Nice catches. "Cold temps?" lol . Thanks for the report
Only if you call the temps being in the 60's cold..lol

During the week Steve and I decided to hit up Ghostie. We got there around 7 am this morning and finished our drinks before setting up.It took us a bit due to the cool temps, but we finally got set up with lines in the water. The first run was mine bringing in a 13.8 lb common about 11:30.It was a while later before the next run,but at 2:15 I banked my second common at 19 lbs even.
Steve was having fun with the turtles playing with his bait.About 3:20 I got another run landing a nice 21.4 lb common.
After not having any runs Steve started getting ready to head home,as he was packing up I ended up getting another run.Steve came to help net,but the fish spit the hook at the bank before it could be netted.Steve had taken off and I stayed waiting to see what else might happen.About 4:10 I was on the phone with Chris and got another run.I told Chris I had a run and had to go.I set on the fish and it came straight to the surface fast enough to get rid of the hook.At this point I checked my hook and it was sharp as could be.
I re baited and began waiting again.
I had decided to pack up some things at 5:30 so I wouldn't have as much at the end of the day to carry.
I had packed my tackle box with my scale in it in the car along with my camera.I didn't think I was going to get another run.
I was right in thinking that for a while.I started to bring my lines one by one.Rod one was being packed as I got a run and got to my rod for the set.I felt the fish for a second then it headed straight to wards me.It slacked my line to where I thought I had lost it.I lifted the rod up and back to get the slack out while keeping up my reeling.I finally felt the fish again.I ended up with a few people watching and giving the normal comments...lol.
It was now 6:45 and here I was netting my last common of the day.I saw it was a decent fish so I got my sling and scale back out along with my camera and Toks badge. The day ended with a nice 18 lb on the bank.Despite the two lost fish it was still and good day on the bank. All the fish had great color to them and looked very healthy. With all this said and done here are the pics of the three worth taking.Excuse the Toks badge please.
19.0 lbs
21.4 lbs
18.0 lbs

I'm going to try getting out of work at 1:30 on thursday so I can miss most of the traffic on the way there. If not I won't be able to get out until 2:30 and it's a 3 1/2 hour drive there from here.So it might be just before the corn boil when I get there.
