Come on back! This time we would like to take you to Dunkels Home Swim on the South Branch! Big fish, beautiful scenery and gin clear waters!
As for me I'm up ready to roll out the door for another day of carping in Wild Wonderful West Virginia

Those are really nice pics!

I saw that maize and thought someones been fishing for carp here. Threw the maize in to get rid of the evidence didn't want anyone poaching our swim lol.
Little did I realize it was Jeromes maize until it was already tossed.
I've got plenty of maize to repay with the interests! It was a not so brilliant moment on my part! lol

We all want loads of fish and HUGE ones at that, but fishing being fishing it doesn't always work out that way.
But the camaraderie was absolutely priceless!

Spent the past 2 days chasing carp at 3 different lakes in WV with Dunkel and Jerome.
Day 1: Tygart Lake, Rainy miserable weather water was above summer pool and though we saw several carp jumping there were no takers. Called it a day and ran to Stonewall Jackson Lake. We saw 2 carp jump there and the water looked good so we prebaited it up with a couple gallons of boiled deer corn and left.
Day 2: Stonewall Jackson Lake, still sprinkling but going to clear up. We all set up and it wasn't long I had my first Stonewall Jackson carp. A true monster at about 2lbs. lol I continued to catch carp on on everything I threw at them for a total of 7 and then I said I'm done here! 2-5lb carp. Dunkel had some good runs no hookups, Jerome caught a couple monsters of 2-3-4???lbs.
Figured we are in small carp mecca lets pull up equipment and head to Stonecoal Lake to fishing out the day. Water was fine saw big carp jumping far off. We set up and the wait began. Nothing happening but the occasional carp jumping here and there gave us hope.
Dunkel finally gets a screaming run, fish on! After a nice battle he banks a nice 22lber. That was the last action we had. We bid Jerome farwell and headed home! Jerome stayed there fishing, hopefully he caught something.
I am a poor picture taker, never think in time to get the good pictures and really dropped the ball this time but heres some of the pics I took when I though hey take some pics! lol

All jokes aside it was a good day and Dunkels peanut butter concoction was amazing, it was THE bait of the day!
I had my doubts but after seeing it inaction I'm sold on it!

It was a beautiful day in WV to be carping, since we had no marijuana to smoke on Marijuana Day we decided to go fishing instead. We headed to the Pot-O-Mac River to try our luck. Our luck was good and we ended up with 16 carp landed 3 carp lost to hook pulls. Dunkel caught his personal best and I caught a nice mirror which are rather rare in these parts. Flavors of the day were some homemade peanut butter concoction Dunkel made up, cinnamon corn, coconut corn, and Aweson Possum corn.
Heres some pics of our day!

Heck Yeah!!! That's what its all about!

I've caught good on boilies before that I made myself but in my waters sweet corn or puffs beat them everytime. Easier to open can of corn than roll boilies. The store bought boilies very very little luck.
But If I threw in 10 million I bet they work good too! I'd rather buy a 68 cent can of sweet corn than a small fortune in boilies.

Your tearing them up! Beautiful mirror!

Welcome to CAG! Not a lot of paylakers here but there are a few, glad to have you on board here!

PM sent

Play Doh or Foam on line easy to see.

I've never tried such a cocktail but sounds like I should give it a go. I have noticed seasonal preferences in flavored baits though!

Nice looking venue!

Possibly needed thinned out? Cant hear what they are saying due to my deafness. Seems like a shame but sometimes you got to cull the herd.
-
I'm not but I think there is someone here I just forget who. Contact the Va. State Chair and hopefully they can steer you towards carpers in your area.

Hmmm...a thought: I've occasionally added beer to my spod mix to increase the attraction, but has anyone tried AGAVE (or tequila) as a carp bait flavor?
I haven't tried Agave but wondered about it. I read about someone using tequila before though.

I use a level measuring TBSP, but I don't think it matters as long as it's close. I use sea salt (non iodized), not sure why salt would need to be kosher for packbait? LOL
Kosher salt is used simply because its not iodized, sea salt works just as good or any non-iodized salt.
I think it was Brid here at CAG that used to make some beyond salty corn and caught well on it. Believe he used rock salt???
I use Kosher salt but wouldn't hesitate to use any non-iodized salt.

I usually add a slightly heaped tablespoon or some sometimes just pour some in my hand and say that looks about right and into the mix it goes.
I'm not so sure exact recipes need be followed, I tweek them here and there and don't see much differences
-
Oh Yeah you got into them! Way to go!

Sometimes I will just use painted egg sinkers if I have nothing
I use those also but I prefer the no roll. Hey they both work great.

Carp gear need not be expensive to preform the task its intended for. I use a cheap mat myself with no intentions of upgrading, just cant see a need.

Good deal! Mores to come!

Went fishing today with my girlfriend. Well I fished and she read a book. Everything looked like a good day was in store for me. Carp rolling over and area I threw bait in 2 days ago. Beautiful morning as the fog lifted off the lake but not much was happening. Then Wayne Price pulls in so I walk over to talk to him and get a carp report. Told me the carp weren't up in the cove this year like before and he hadn't seen many.
Naturally now I get a run and before I could get to the rod he got off but hung me in a downed tree.
Later I get another run and got the fish turned away from the tree, finally banked it after a nice battle. Turned out to be my biggest so far this year.
That was it no bites after that and we finally had to start back towards home. I'll give it a week or so and try it again!
Heres a few pics
