  1. Tennessee has combined the Common carp and Israeli carp categories as far as records are concerned. So the 53lb Israeli carp is now Tennessee's record Common carp. George Scholten the Reservoir and River Fisheries Coordinator for TWRA gave me this information by email yesterday. Their reason for the change was that Israeli carp are genetic mutants and not a separate species from Common carp and therefore do not warrant a separate record.

  2. Charlie how are you liking those Willow Rods ??? :D -Wayne-

I have one Willow and it is a fine rod. It is my first 12 foot rod and naturally it gives me more distance on a cast than my old 7 foot rods. The additional distance is really helpful at larger venues. I still feel a little clumsy with a 12 foot rod, having used shorter rods all my life. My 3lb TC Willow should give me the best chance of reaching my goal for this year....hooking and landing a carp over 20 lbs.

  3. post-1716-1172121150_thumb.jpgI got the day off because of an equipment problem at work. :D Although it was supposed to rain today it was mostly dry and warm, so I decided to fish a local spot by a large creek bridge. I had never carp fished this spot before but it looked promising because some fish were feeding and I heard a couple of loud splashes that could have been made by carp. After my first catch, a 9.8 lb carp, I was sure I had picked a good spot. Next I caught a couple of 5 lbers, and one of them was towing an eight inch lamprey around. The lamprey dropped off as soon as I lifted the carp out of the water. The last fish of the day turned out to be the best. I increased my PB by a few ounces with a 16.3 lb carp. :D K1 and company should have a great day at Kingston Saturday. I hope I can join them.
