  1. The show that Bait Boat Charlie and I filmed last year at Lake Hominy with the Outdoor Oklahoma film crew will broadcast this weekend on PBS here in North Eastern Oklahoma.

OETA (Tulsa) airs 8am Sunday the 10th and then again 16th at Saturday at 6pm.

Should be a good boost for carp angling in Oklahoma and promote interest in carp angling.

I've been trying to get BBC to be the CAG state chair in OK for years now!! You guys should do the same supporting him to do it. He would do a fantastic job and I've offered to help where I can so he has no excuses!! :D We need someone to keep the momentum going now.

BBC for state chair of Oklahoma!!! :D

  2. Looks fairly good but what are the prizes???  I looked at the info page provided and saw all the rules and cost but I must have missed the prize section.  Maybe (( for me )) it dont make any difference anyway. :D

    Tom.

    Tom

Goal is to meet and/or exceed last years prize pool. Once some of the sponsorships are firmed up and we know the number of teams I'll know more.

ACS doesn't make money on this event(yet :D ) we have paid back 100% of the net entry fees in the past 2 years.

    2005 prizes and payouts

  3. That is really cool.  Is that the work of your brother?  It's to bad that the lunar information can't be populated automatically based on the location and date input.  That would require quite a bit more code, but it would be valuable since most people don't track that information.  I know you are a big believer in the solunar effect on fishing.

    Tim,

Thanks. No my Jon-Ed didn't do it, our ACS Website designer had one of his programmers do it. We will do what you are talking about in Phase II or II. Main thing right was to start getting the information recorded for the future. We probably need at least 1 to 3 years of detailed info to get an idea if there are any kind of patterns exposed. The program was based on a datasheet I've kept for years.

That Anglers Edge device does it all though. You input long / lat and altitude it does the rest. Has a barometer built in and uses moon phases, sun rise / moon rise. It will even do a future prediction of best fishing times.

I'm a beleiver in all of it having something to do with better fishing times. Having a very limited time to fish now days I want to try and have the best chance at catching. Who knows maybe it all gives me more confidence?. Barometric pressure seems to be the most influential variance though from my past expereinces.

All ACS members get a log book that matches up with this database so you can record everything and then input it when you have time.

  4. I think this was posted some time back?.

Right now all it does is accept and record info.

All info input thought to be bogus or that cannot be verified wil be deleted. :D

In the next year or so all info will be compared and reports on the info will be published in a generic way. What time of year produced, moon phases, best baits, etc.

    Database input

I recently bought this device ( I know more gadgets :D ) and it has a lot of the info all there.

  5. Buster,

So you make a statement about me-

Dave--trust me--the feeling is mutual. I'm surprised that you havn't landed a sponsership deal from one of the big archery companies. You've probably done more to promote bowfishing than anyone in the country.

..but no facts to back it up? You surely realize how it's tough for me to take you serious.?? Your little "bowfishing /archery sponsorship" comment is then looked at to me as a insult and is completely without merit. Which doesn't surprise me reading some of your recent posts.

I've posted my thoughts about /on bowfishing plenty. So need to do that again. For the record though I did offer the Bowfishing PR rep to send me a list of questions more than once and I would answer them for print and he declined. Why? Because the truth just wouldn't be as interesting or help their cause.

I did lay on the floor laughing for a long time when the got Punk'd by PETA. You have to admit that was funny.. :D

  6. Dave, although the pictures in this thread make me ill :D  :D I must agree with buster. The Bow guys use your Town lake fight, stocking issues in your home state, your commercial interests, and your entire anti attitude to push their platform. I think this is what buster speaks of.

I  will say you and ACS have done a great job putting carp in the eyes of alot more people for anglers, but the bow guys you throw flames on the fire.

    just my 2cents

    Domm,

I'm sure they do use whatever they have to to protect their so-called sport. Just because I tried to get bowfishing banned on one lake that makes me anti-bowfishing? They can shoot talapia, small carp, (food for the table) etc. all day long. Their house of cards will come tumbling down in the long run that's whay I don't loose sleep over it. Also I guess In-Fisherman would be considered anti-bowfishing with Doug Stange's recent comments on "Tempering their sport" I'll side with C&R In-Fisherman anyday .. :D

I'll ask you just like Buster show me the proof. If you can't then I have to accept that it's your opinion, not really fact.

    Buster,

Time will tell, but the more you post I think it proves how little you actually know..

    Buster,

Feel free to post, PM or email me any examples. Cause with all this "controversy" I supposedly cause I sure haven't seen it??.. :D

  8. We'll, I'd bet the farm that there's 100 times more carp tossed on the bank by rod and reel anglers than by bowfishermen.  So--Why not create an awarness site that educates the public on the evils of those bastids who fish with rods and reels??

Geez--Sorry--but it just seems that this board has been infiltrated by goobers who get their panties in a wad everytime somebody decides to yank their chains.

    First off--THINK.

In the grand scheme of things--CAG--ACS--and all the other carpy players are totaly insignificant.  They don't have anywhere near enough arse to take on the shooters. :D

IF a group of dumbasses does start a website like "bowfishingsucks.ugh--they will be seen by the general sporting community as a bunch of PETE Pumper freaks.

For every one person that they turn against bowfishing--they'll be 10 regular sportsman who take up the sport.

And--this thread is prety damn lame. Where's the outrage over the hook and line anglers who chunk every carp that they catch??

You guys just like to work each other up into a tizzy over the bowfishing thing. :D  And--are naive enough to fall for the crap every time it's posted.

Thats OK I guess. Lots of us get a good laugh out of it.  :D  :D  :D

  9. Jerome,

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, we are CARP Fisherman first and foremost not Professional TV stars.. :D I'm glad that you think that comes through on the DVD.

Part II which comes out next year will probably be more basic then part I. Baits, bait preparation, more on tactics. We just felt it was important to show new ideas, tackle and tactics the first go around.

Wayne actually had over 1 1/2 hours for part I but the DVD will only hold so much(It's absolutely full) so he had trim off a bit that will carry over to part II.

Need to recognize especially Wayne's, but also Sean's assistance for their hard work put into these DVD project. It's a painfully slow and long procedure. Then add the fact Wayne writes all the music and is a perfectionist it takes even more time. :D I have the easy part on these projects.. Just show up and try to speak clearly while explaining things!!.. :D

  10. ...and we even let Paul win the ACS Nationals last year.. :D

We are all in this together so there isn't any reason to not support and work with each other. Paul has done a great deal for carp fishing in the US and deserves success.

  11. ACS wanted invite everyone to attend the first ever Carp Expo being held in the USA. This event will be on the same day ,Saturday June 4th, as the peg draw and Official beginning of the World Carp Championship. We are expecting several carp tackle dealers to have items for sale and display. Along with local vendors of arts and crafts. All the Anglers particpating in the WCC are slated to be in attendance.

More details and information will be forthcoming. Just wanted to let everyone so they would have more time for scheduling a trip up.

As a reminder anyone who serves as a Steward / Marshal during the week gets passes to all opening and closing ceremonies and be part of history. If intersted please contact Al K, Mean Mike or myself.

Hope to see you there :D
