  1. Another option to consider if you'd like to have some influence and work helping get that content you can volunteer as an assistant editor? As a volunteer organization CAG is always in need of people to help pull the wagon.

  2. Good point Brian! Also it's not like 2015 will be the last CCC. Personally I'd love to see on the calendar where the next 3 CCCs will be held to plan ahead.

  3. Bill,

Like Bob says thanks for stepping up. Lake Storey would be cool. Maybe instead of the usual format it gets adjusted to 24-72 hours just for something different?

  4. First off a big shout out of Thanks to Dean Brookes for bringing this idea to life and then coordinating it the last 2 years. We have had some great captures submitted and tough contests for the judges to decide winners.

Thanks as well to Brian for taking over in 2015.

Good luck everyone look forward to seeing what 2015 Anglers enter.

  5. Good luck. Hope it passes. Kansas is a 2 rod state, but for $5 a year you can buy a 3rd rod permit. (Win/Win)

State fisheries agencies need to recycle some of those funds from Carp anglers license back to benefit carp anglers at some point though. Even if it's providing a few groomed areas to fish from on the bank.

  6. Chumming (American English from Powhatan[1]) is the practice of luring animals, usually fish such as sharks, by throwing "chum" into the water. Chum is bait consisting of fish parts and blood, which attract fish, particularly sharks owing to their keen sense of smell.

  7. Craig,

I don't take it personally. If I could fish this event I'd be there that week this year to plan for 2015 to know what I'd be up against. So maybe not all is lost?

Only thing I will disagree 100% is the planning is equal to participating. I've even fished 4 events overseas and I can assure you partipating is a walk in the park to organizing a big event.

I appreciate your commitment to attend so I'll do my best to make it up to you down the road.

  8. Sorry Craig. I'd already paid for trophies and spent several hours myself to try and get this together. Just wasn't coming together like we hoped on a really short notice tournament wise. The paid entries as of today wouldn't even cover the $100k insurance policy?

We had a great vocal interest and many of those just had too many conflicts to attend this year.

Sometimes it's just better to regroup and try at a later date. This was one of those times.

Id be glad to speak about it with you in more detail on the phone.

  9. Just wanted to let everyone, especially those participating know we've decided to postpone the event until next year. We had a late start to deal with and always seem to be playing catch-up in a few areas. We think the land area and 24 hour access played a role and CT DEEP is going to continue to work on that. They've already found miles of bank access, but will continue to look and coordinate with other government municipalities to accommodate us as much as possible in 2015. The anglers that have paid will receive a 100% refund this week.

Sorry it didn't work out, but looking at it we thought the investment in prize money and the insurance policy would be better spent by holding off until next year.

  10. Bob,

We said. When 6 of us went to Romania in '02 we had the pleasant surprise of an $1800 weight overage charge to get our bait on the plane with us out of Heathrow. Not to mention Al St Cyr's passport went missing! Lol. We managed to get it all together. We also would have won if there had been a Team challenge finishing 5th, 22nd & 51st respectively.

The fishing and competing is just a peice of the entire experience. I've blanked at the other 3( Romania '99, France '06 & '09 )of the events I competed and still had a great time.

I'd encourage anyone that can participate/compete if the opportunity is there.
