  2. Well this weekend was pretty good. good friends, good bait, good food, and lots of fish.

About 2 weeks ago i finally found out how to get to a lake that for now will remain nameless untill iv put some more effort into. Anyways me and joe talked about it and decided to go and fish overnight, and possible to sunday depending on the bite. i arrive friday around 1pm we had had a spot on the list to fish, and after searching the navionics app found it had some decent depth and we figured with this heat the fish would want deeper cooler water. So i drive to said spot and my jaw dropped. the 4wheeler guys just destroyed the land and ruts everywhere. i said nah to that spot and went to the 4 other spot, all with the same issue.

So i went back to the boat ramp area and where the camping area was and to my surprise nobody was there......sweeeeeeet...backed the truck up to the water and started unloading my gear. after about a hour i had the bivvy set up and was getting out of the sun.

i took my time cause it was soo hot and very little wind. around 2:45 i had 3 lines out baited with wcb 4 season boilie, pineapple boilie, and some tiger nut jumbo corn. well i know this place had turtles but didnt know how bad they were. about a hour with beeps and twitches on 2 rods, i reel in to find the boilie with apple slices all over, and the other rod the jumbo cord is gone. so change of plans. i went to plane un flavord tiger nuts on all 3 rods, just untill dark. figured the turtles would go away......wrong.

joe shows up around 9pm and gets setup and lines out. he puts on his wcb bait and for some odd reason the turtles didnt bother him.

As night fall joe gets into a good fish, after a good battle it was a buffalo 20 pounds. sweet. after that things went pretty much quiet, we both had some commons in the 5 to 8 pound range.

the next morning it was all hands on deck, we took off tiger nuts and put on fresh baits. i broke out the amino sprays, 4 seasons boilies and maize. in about 2 hours joe landed 6 fish mostly buffalo. then he gets a solid run. As he is playing it in i get a look and said its a mirror. i threw down my net and grabbed his net. his net was better and more ridged then mine is. we get the mirror on the mat and it was soo pretty for a small mirror.

around 9am we had some friends show up and join us. i gave them some of my baits and said try it, also handed out some brochures . they got into the fish one right after another, to the point there was sometimes 3 rods going at once.
meantime there all catching while im silent, so i reel in and put on a garlic butter popup, put some method on and spray it down with some 4 seasons spray and let it fly. after a little bit, i had a strong run which i landed a 23 buff.

after that fish i was wore out. i had a few other small commons and buffs, but i got lazy and just chilled out with friends and try to be cool.

later on we watched 4 cars get stuck, a chevy truck, dodge truck, dodge nitro awd, and i think a infinity or honda not sure. this was after a good shower and really cooled off things. i too had a issue getting out of the camping area but knew better then to floor it lol

it was a great weekend, with good friends, good food, rain, thunder, and some proper pull downs! pics below enjoy!

  3. yea that mirra was really a surprise. Im sitting on this huge rock, just watching the rod tip bounce. knowing the tiny catfish are down there trying to eat the 4 inch range cube. Im watching the tip and then i see it bend over then the line ever so slowly starts pulling out. i set the hook and the rod goes straight over in a solid bend. so i get up on top of this rock to play the fish, i see it roll and i said omg its a mirra. I yelled back at joe, "joe its a mirra its a mirra get the net" . he was snoozing in his chair but leaped up into action. after a very intense battle of a light drag and carefully pulling the fish back to the net, joe slips the net under the fish and just like that it was in the net. although this fish isnt my personal best. it is however a new lake personal best for me, and im proud to have got it.
