  1. blind casting to carp is a big waste of time unless there are hundreds in the area your are fishing. Most of the time you never feel the take and it is all visual. The few buffs I have caught on the fly have been using a large black woolly bugger tied on a 3xl #6 hook

  2. Hey Scott, Welcome to the board!

What part of Texas are you in?

I'm starting to try to pick up flyfishing for Carp. I attended a Carp on the Fly seminar at the local Orvis store a few weeks back. I'm just inching closer and closer to actually doing it.

I am in north Grand Prairie so real close to you

  3. Been lurking for a while and thought I'd finally sign up. I have been fly fishing for over 10 years now , I tie my own flies and just starting building rods. I have caught a few carp on the fly but desperately want more. Most of my experience carping on the fly is baiting the area(legal here in texas) and casting into the area or hitting up the marinas that feed carp and cast into the frenzy and have done very well that way. I have also sight fished for them but only had a couple actually caught. I have been targeting them a lot more lately and will post my results. Unfortunately I lost most of my carp pics due to theft of my laptop but have some 35mm I can get scanned eventually. I typically use black woolly buggers and prince nymphs with an occasional dog food fly for the marinas :D
