  1. I use 15 and 20 lb big game I was thinking leaders also any suggestions

One major sugesstion is to keep your rod tips high. If you keep them low in an area with zebra mussells, when you get a run, your line is getting run through a cheese grater. Beyone that, try some 30lb fluorocarbon. I had the same thing happen to me with 15lb big game, I moved spots and havent had any issues.

  2. I did check those and the rods have been used just a handful of times as far as zebra mussles not sure but the water was very clear at the bank and the was a lot of mussle shells there busted open and the lake is warmed by a plant if that helps any thank u both for Ur responses

Zebra mussels are the problem. Are you using mono? If so, what lb test? I have had problems with smaller lb test before. I just bump up the lb test, and maybe even add a leader thats heavier than the mainline.

  3. All you need to surface fish is a hook and some bread if they are within casting range. Also, don't be afriad to chum up and fish even though they are surfacing. You can get em feeding if they are in the area.

  4. A few years ago a tournament was held on the Saginaw River here in Michigan. I was running the tournament, and a god man (Mike Olinger) was fishing a bridge peg. During the night, Mike's jeep was parked near the bridge. He began getting tired and thought of going up to the bridge for a nap. Something told him to hold off a little longer. A drunk then smashed into the back of his jeep, destroying his jeep and everything inside.

This bad evening ends with a good note though when the drunk failed sobriety's and was taken to jail by The Bay County Sheriff's Office.

  5. Nik,

I like the sound of that. Are you fishing this weekend?

FYI on the Epixors, I got a set from Andy of size 50s that he had caught tons of fish on. I fished them for two years and they did very well. 65's will work and should cast well.

  6. Don,

Don't laugh too hard, but I was so proud of the fish I took my hat off for the picture. I've got sunscreen, hats, the whole nine yards.

    Skeet,

She is coming around. She has a license now and has agreed to give it some more serious thought.

    Thanks everyone.

You should be proud, great fish! I was just saying because the sun the other day made me think of my first session this year. I got fried to a crisp in 5 hours in April. Something's wrong with that, lol

  7. Glad we could help Don...sad thing is amongst the normal bankside trash we picked up an empty 50 lb steam rolled oats bag and empty packages representing most all of the major carp bait and tackle stores. This was both surprising and disappointing. It would be a shame to not be able to continue this annual event based on our own littering and bad vibes with the locals.

    That is both disapointing Bob!

  8. Ive been out fo the game for a while, but wanted to post my experiences recently with Resistance Tackle. I have ordered from their and Wacker alot in the past, and both he and Paul were very fair IMO.

Upon getting back into fishing again, I was thrown off by the shipping prices quoted upon check out at Resistance (I understand there is a new owner?) It almost made me not order, but I really like the items I ordered, and needed them for the style of fishing I do, so I ordered anyway.

To make a long story short, both times, the owner (Dennis Moneypenny) refunded money to my paypal account making shipping much cheaper! He apparently shipped them flat rate?

Anyway, thank you Mr. Moneypenny! I will do business with you again!
