  1. Many of the pictures submitted have shown the common carp’s ability to survive, to overcome disabilities, to heal old wounds, and to live through injuries. From beautiful mutants to the grossly damaged, all these carp where caught feeding! It is no surprise that the carp has been around for millions of years, admired and depicted in works of art through the ages. Carp are the most adaptable fresh water fish known. They not only survive adverse conditions but also adapt to extreme environments, which in some waters include learning to avoid capture. Although some of these submissions are truly gross; it is their strength, toughness, and adaptability that I see in these pictures, and it is exactly that, which makes them a worthy sports fish! Pictures for this contest may be submitted through Feb 21st, Keep Them Coming!
  2. Whoaa folks! I deleted a couple of the posts because I don't want this thread headed in the wrong direction! I would like to keep this as a celebration of their toughness not only as great fighters but as great adapters. This thread is intended to demonstrate the toughness of the carp. We have all caught carp in some of the most polluted waters where other fish cannot thrive. We have taken pictures of deformed carp because it is at times unbelievable that although damaged, they can still survive. A part of the carps bad reputation is that they exist where other fish can't. This should be celebrated and not seen as disadvantage. This is by far the toughest fish I know of!!! A lot of good entries, Keep them pictures coming.
  3. Cool fish with a face only a mother could love... But the crazy angler may just win this one!
  4. Neil is right, that carp looks like it ate too many hot peppers!
  5. Dang, this carp looks like some sort of geometric rectangle!
  6. That is one sad looking fish! Is it really missing it's tail or just folded over? What is the story behind it?
  7. The Odd the Sad and the Ugly Contest It is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I find this particular saying most appropriate in the world of carp fishing. No other fish in the history of mankind has been depicted in art as much as our beloved carp. But let’s face it, there are some odd, sad, and ugly looking Cyprinoids that grace our nets on occasion; so odd looking, or in such sad shape, or so plain ole ugly that we just had to take a picture of it. This contest is not a celebration of the bizarre; it is an acknowledgement of the resilience of our beloved Cyprinus Carpio, a true survivor! So this month’s (February 2012) contest will be for a picture and description of that odd, sad or ugly carp you or your friend has caught. Entries will be accepted through Tuesday, Februrary 21th, followed by one week of voting. The winner will be announced on February 29th and showered with gifts from the CAG store. The top three finishers will receive a CAG iron on patch, a CAG tape measure and CAG mouse pad. The 1st place finisher will also receive a CAG T-Shirt of his choice. On your mark- Get set- Go! Good luck to you all!
