Dave/Brian - have the prizes been declared for this years Champs?
-
Dave, I know you want to give some leeway but lots of people were told they had to get their money in b y December 31st to get a place, now there are some who have still not payed and they are being allowed to enter........ come on now.
-
Tony,
Try this place as they sell Sensi and Provia (which are the names of the Fuji transparency film sold here in the US) Precision Camera They are in Austin so you should have no problems. Give themn a call before hand to pre-order.

I presume to be able to see anything on the site you have to join up as a member?

Paul, I was not trying to disrespect thse who fly fish (whether for carp or any other species) just trying to say it is not my preference. Bonefish for example are hard enough to catch with spinning gear without the added difficulty of having to accurately cast a fly with as little splash as possible.

Do they have a web site Paul? PM me if so

A lot of the North Western states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho etc) have lots of guys who fly fish for carp on a regular basis. Must be something in it but can't figure it personally. Fly fishing seems to be a way to make it harder to catch fosh to me rather than easier. Oh and yes I have fly fished, for carp as well as other species including ocean going species

Phone is your hero???????

I have to agree Pete that Ransome perfectly captures the "essence" of fish and especially carp fishing.
-
Pete are you a lover of Ransome?
-
-
Phone teaches other what not to do by fishing his normal way

That's OK I have my own version of Scott in Skippy
-
Soniq,
Just make sure you take large amounts of vodka - enough to either make yourself or Scott comatose - that way there will be no pain
Hey Scott just joking dude

Yeah now there are five of us

Seems that fly fishing for carp is becoming more and more common in those areas that fly fishing is common in the first place.
I completely liken it to flyfishing for bones - just don't have that type of water in the Bay Area to even try and fly fishing to me is all about the action of getting the fly in the right place and less about playing a hard fighting fish on what has to be considered inappropriate tackle.

Tony,
As I am in Northern California I would be interested in chatting some more about those carp on the Columbia system. It is no more of a drive to the Columbia than it is to San Diego for me so a good couple of places to fish would be helpful.
Maybe we can chat at Austin in late March

Another useful item to use as a baiting needle is a crochet hook.
Of course you need to go into a needlework shop to get one and most of us big guys might not want to be seen in that type of shop
