  1. OK (( you big washer woman )). :D:D

PS is paylake style not inclusive of paylake pack bait??? I would never say I was fishing paylake style with a big old boilie and hair rig. That just wouldnt be cricket. At first I thought you were joking but I see your sore and serious. Too bad. I was also talking to Mark, and making a helpfull hint, when you chose to put your blouse in the works.

    your friend.

    Tom.

And I was only joking to Tom - that why the smiley with the tongue sticking out. Look man, it's Friday, I fished yesterday evening, and will be fishing again this weekend (as I did last weekend and won the NCCC Monthly Derby), life is pretty good if a little busy right now so I am anything but sore, sour or serious :D :D :D :D

Do you see how easy it is to mis-interpret what someones meaning is when all you can see is flat text?

  2. There is only one other person that might be in need of a change more than Mark and its YOU. Talk about being stuck in history. Sometimes I wonder if you even know if your on the inside looking out or the outside looking in. While I sit back and ponder on the whisdom of your last post I'm convinced that you haven't a clue. Blind ignorance is no defense. Its not the person we are talking about here, its the baits you Big Washer Woman.

    Tom.

Hey dude - you said paylake style, not paylake baits!!!!!

Be careful with your words here Tom, you know you are on thin ice and name calling a member is breaking a rule and you really don't want to do that right now.............................

  3. Only if some dumb fool threw a brick through your windshield on your way to work, hit you in the head, and you came up with amnisia (( spelling )) and learned to fish paylake sytle from the get go. :D

    Tom.

Tom - of course so many paylakers have won this event that it is obviously the way to go - ooops sorry the only paylaker on the list is Jim and he know that paylaking is not the only way to do it....... :D

  4. Teams or individual. Maybe a walk-off type peg draw since we mostly know the lake?

Teams would make it a little harder, just in case certain team members can't make it or don't get along with their partner from years before. This way if people cannot make it at least the rest of us can still fish. See 7 years = 14 winner so the lake is definitely capable of giving up 14 spots if everyone turns up.

Walk off draw would be great too - may need to have at least one marshall for each two anglers as I can see people separating quite a lot as we all have our "special" spots on the lake.

    • Runners allowed?
    • All carp to count?
    • Side event for buffalos?
Scott - I like Austin Tournament of Champions. Could be an annual event in late October early November - I know I would rather fish Austin than Hominy any day........
  5. I say we peg them all in the DEAD ZONE and really see how good they are :D:D:D:D:D:D

Great idea Neil - I vote for that as I have loads of experience in the "Dead Zone" :D:D:D:D , my only provisio would be that we have this Champion of Champions event later in the year

Looks like a pretty good line up of anglers to me, I would love to have a fish off against them other winners. How about same peg 3 days in a row, fish from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m each day, boats allowed on day one (for initial swim scoping), one marshall per team (so that all fish are independantly weighed and witnessed in a speedy manner).

  6. I know, I know!......I know he posts on the Nor Cal board all the time.

I was joking............Hence the smilies!!! :D:D Anybody remember having a laugh on here anymore?? :D

i know you know I just did not want the possibility that people might think that Justin (MinnowMagnet) might tell porkies.

  7. Oscar - those are some great pictures.

In future could you please reduce the size and dimensions of the pictures as those with slower internet connections have problems with the larger pictures.

There is a link here on the forum that has a very good explanation on how to reduce the size and dimensions of the picture for the forum, ideally 800x600 and less than 200kb per picture is close to the optimum for the users here with slow connections.

  8. Tom - I have a genuine concern for an event that I had until this year I had never missed and don't want to see it end up with so limited a participation that the group chooses not to continue with it. I am not the only person who will not be attending and every one of us has their reasons for not doing so......... how about you, why are you not going to be there?

I was hoping to get some positive thought on how to get the attendance back up to a number that makes it easier to ensure that hotels, car rental companies etc. who already participate, into giving the entrants the discounts we currently recieve. With a limited number of participants these companies will not continue to give the discounts.

It is true that I am not prepared to drive or fly 1800 miles for two days fishing in swims I have no choice over. That, however, has nothing to do with my concerns for the event.

  9. I believe we could have seen more entries this year if there had been more build up for the event. Neil always did a great job of that and had dang near everyone in a frenzy last year when we had 50 teams for the event.

I can agree that 50 teams is too many for Lady Bird Lake. There just aren't that many good swims. I can also agree that a post spawn event may have the fish more spread making the event less pegey.

This year, planing the event for Easter put many off, last years extremely tough fishing at most pegs put many more off.

Still to me, the evening social time after the event is worth the entry fee. It's more about the comaradary of the carping community. So while that may not be enough for folks to travel long distances, there is always the possibility of 40 pound carp and great memories.

It'll be good to see the returning faces this year and good to get all the new guys together as well.

If we changed to a steward weigh-in system instead of competitor verification for some unique pegs, it would open up several more very good pegs.

Also perhaps Splitting the field into a match type setting at Emma long one day and the spread out peg day on Lady Bird the next with a field of 40 teams would work. 20 at Lady Bird one day and the other 20 at Lady Bird the next. This increases chances for really big buffalo if for nothing other than PB potential at Emma and keeps the event on Lady Bird less prone to bad pegging. This year we're selecting 20 pegs. It'll be intesting to see how the fishing goes this year.

Scott - suprisingly I agree with all you say here - all I ever hear though is that the social side of the event is way more important than the competition side, if that is the case then make it a regular fish in and expect the numbers to keep dropping until it really is only local anglers willing to fish.

As far as splitting the event both Karl and I suggested exactly that to Neil three years ago and again two years ago, the answer is always the same (not only from Neil, but from Chad and other involved) "We cannot book the spots at Emma Long so it will not work". I was told I could not book all the lakeside at Clear Lake but I kept badgering, explaining to and cajoling the owners; eventually they allowed it for our NCCC charity event in October last year. Has anyone really gone and sat down with the Emma Long people and explained the situation, talked about the options, presented them with a proper plan.

I personally believe that an ATC split between Emma Long and Lady Bird would be a great event; numbers of fish at Emma would bump up the total weights caught and then throw in Lady Bird with it's exceptional carp and everyone has a chance of doing well in the event
