  1. Thanks to everyone who attended Saturdays event. As the results page stated decent day overall. Big thanks to Frank Rink for doing all the computer work not to mention other things. Hope all will return next year.

First time carp fishing Dusty Palmer taking instruction from his instructor (larry) on how to battle  one of his many catches during the day.

And Jaffar in the background checking up on if his big fish of the day catch will be beaten with this one.

If there are fewer than 19 participants, are you still going to include 19 sheets of paper (several with no names) in the draw so we are spread throughout the venue, or are we going to be squeezed together in consecutive pegs? If we are assigned consecutive pegs, will it begin at 1 or will pegging start farther south? Thanks.

Since others fish the lagoon more than I do I will be taking opinions on that this morning.

Still can't find the May 17th post, but your response answers my question.  Thanks, Larry, for your generosity and for hosting an always enjoyable event! --Frank

p.s.  Mike Tylka was turned away a couple days ago due to a full field.  With the openings now available, has he been contacted?

Mike Tylka will be there in the AM, to fill Mike Olingers place, or one on the other open spots.

I may have missed it ..but where are we meeting in morning? first time there so little more info will be helpful...

Directly in front of the main Lincoln Park Zoo entrance, in the parking lot. We will be more than likely the only ones there at that hour.

Lakeshore Dr. to Fullerton ave west, and it is directly to the left over the little bridge.

Just a reminder to those coming from the southwest on I-55 that early morning re-surfacing construction from Weber Road to Burr Ridge often has the interstate down to one lane.  It took me a half hour to get from Weber Rd. to the Bolingbrook exit one morning, so add 15 minutes to a half hour to your trip plans in case you hit traffic and to make sure you make it to the 6:00 am. peg draw on time.

The wet stuff remains in the forecast with Accuweather calling for four hours of precipitation, over a half-inch of rain, and a possible thunderstorm on Saturday.  Be ready for it.  Good luck to all! --Frank

Another thing about the weather, if you ever had to fish while rowers are going up and down the Lagoon you will welcome the rain which may keep some rowers away on Saturday.

For all you catfish catchers, yet another prize, Sticky Baits "The Krill" Bait, will go to the angler catching the largest non-carp species on Saturday, and, if your weight beats the 8 lb. Northern I recently caught on a boilie at the lagoon, a container of Buchu-berry Stickybait Wafters is also yours.  Good luck! --Frank

Nice catch Frank! Your boilie was popped up to far off the bottom.

Good to hear.  The water seemed slower and less mossy as I walked from the boathouse and south.

I don't want to rain on the parade, but, for the sake of preparedness, Accuweather is calling for a quarter inch of rain for three hours on Saturday.  Most of the day will be great with a high of 71°, but you may want to bring a small shelter or brolly and some wet weather gear.

I will be bringing 2 extra large umbrellas is someone happens to be without one.

5 Bridges Venue Report - May 15, 2017:  I went to Chicago's Lincoln Park Lagoon this morning to check out the venue and see how peg spacing might work for Larry's May 20 tournament.

I didn't fish the specific tournament venue because we are too close to the actual event, but I did spend a couple hours near the Fullerton St. Bridge.  Terrible!  For whatever reason, there was a constant flow of slimy green moss that covered lines and backleads.  After about 15 minutes in the water, my rig and leads would be covered with 2 to 5 pounds of the moss.  I caught four fish between 13-17 pounds each, but that was just lucky that they saw the bait before it got "slimed."  I am hoping that, as the lagoon widens at the boathouse and south, the current won't be able to move the moss around as much.

I was able to step off 20 pegs from the boathouse to the last yellow pole (still enough depth) with each peg about 25 paces apart.  Some adjustments, closer or farther than 25 paces apart, need to be made for those locations under trees, but the average distance between pegs was 25 yards.  Best of luck to all.  See you Saturday. --Frank
